I just looked at the consultation and government proposals on this. One thing that surprised me is that they are considering raising the age from 2 to 3 before someone can get a blue badge. I thought that folks had successfully campaigned to get this lowered for all those poor parents who had children with bulky medical equipment?

They are also looking to make it more in line with mobility allowance so that you would only get it if you had the higher rate of allowance.

Consultation and reform is LONG overdue with the Blue Badge scheme. There are so many variences with local authorities and how they treat cars parked with the badge and additionally it is regularly abused by so many people. Not only this, the disabled spaces are regularly abused by non blue badge users.

The UK needs to come in-lne with other parts of the world (think Florida) who fine you heavily if you are an unauthorised user.

Just my immediate thoughts.

Agree :thumbsup2 including those who regularly borrow someone else's card :)

I agree about controlling the abusers. I was just a bit surprised about the children as there had been so much publicity about the difficulties the age limit had caused.

Just for info my dh has a Blue Badge (one of approximately 4% of blue badge holders who is registered blind). Obviously he never drives the car but I only ever use it if I am with him or collecting him from somewhere (eg Doctors).
