I recently had the opportunity to try and take some pictures at an airshow. Although I am not nearly as talented as a majority of the great photographers on this board I had a blast taking pictures and trying to apply some of what I have learned from the incredible talent on this forum. I only have a rebel xt with a relativley inexpensive sigma 70-300 zoom lens but I still managed to get shots I am happy with. Let me know what you think.

This was a jet powered out house during the pre-show activities:confused3

The Army Golden Knights parachute team kicked off the show.

This is Panchito a restored B-25(I think) that flies on behalf of the DAV.

Nice work- thanks for sharing.

I need to get to an airshow one of these days. They have a couple pretty good ones around me but every year I just never make it.

Great pics!

Yes, that is a B-25.
Thanks, I loved that plane, it was beautiful looking up close and a lot of fun to watch it fly.

Thank you. It was a great time, hope you get to see (and photograph:thumbsup2) a show soon, I'd love to see those pics!

Nice pictures. My husband and I enjoyed an airshow in Rochester last summer and I was really happy with some of the shots I captured. The planes are quite amazing and it looks like you had a great day weather wise too.

The shot below was a bit of a surprise which I didn't see until I downloaded the pictures. The airshow was at our local airport and the 2 Canadian planes in the photo were flying low with two terminal gates that have very tall light posts connected to the jet bridges. When I saw the pictures I just had to laugh at the lollipop planes.

Those are great. :goodvibes My son will enjoy them when he gets home.

Now just hanging out with him I'm guessing those long blue ones are F somethings... F18's?

nice pics but next time experiment a little and try shooting at 1/1000 second or faster, I think you'll get sharper pics, e.g.
these were taken with an XSi Rebel using a cheap budget telezoom (Canon 55-250)

Yes, the Blue Angels are the Navy flight demonstration team and they fly a version of the carrier based F-18 Hornet.

Great pics and great advice. Early on I was concerned with capturing motion and I wanted to make sure I had some blur and movement showing through. As the day went on I guess I forgot about experimenting and setting faster shutter speeds for sharper images. I will definitely have to keep that in mind for next time. Thanks for sharing your wonderful shots and your thoughts:)
