BLT: Why so much availability?

I have also been told that BLT owners who have September, October and December UY's can't use their points until their UY starts since there is no 2008 UY for us to borrow our points into. This is why we won't be paying MF until our UY starts.

The only BLT owners using points in August are those who already got their 2009 points. Plus, like me, I am using my developer points to do my August stay.

I also know that BLT owners booked heavily for the time period of November and December and early January (surrounding New Years).

We booked at 7 months using our BCV and BWV points. We bought just enough points at BLT for a MK 2 BR every other year. We have an October use year and need almost all of our 2009 and 2010 points for a planned vacation.

I became a member buying @ BLT with an August Use Year. I was told I couldn't use my points until Sept. when the resort opens and I'm get to start paying dues...

Since it is opening in August, I am guessing I could probably go then, but I already have reservations in Nov./Dec. I wonder if my dues are going to start early? Hope not... Probably ought to call my guide!

I'd guess it's because BLT is one building and AKV is a bunch of smaller buildings that are going to open as the resort sells. Disney will declare sections of BLT as needed but can rent the whole thing on points from day 1 if there is little interest in paying cash.

Sorry, off-thread, but your pictures of your kids are Great!(Duckfan-in-Chicago)

I think many BLT owners will be using their developer points to book first, and then to book BLT later.

Also, with the recession, I think a lot of DVC owners may be banking their points to next year. We're seeing many atypical reports of booking BCV during F&W festival, VWL at Christmas, etc. This year is not shaping up to be a typical DVC year as far as booking goes.

That totally makes sense. I guess next year is gonna be a tough year for BLT.

I am planning on booking a Grand Villa for the 3rd week in April and have not decided wether to try for MK Views or BL views.

I would think that the views of Bay Lake would be nice!

Oh boy - DH and I were just talking about this very fact.

In the past, just about the only DVC property we could find for castmember rates were OKW and SSR - and only studios.

DH was checkingout castmember rates last week and BLT is listed for EVERYTHING....studios, 1 br up to Grand Villa.

Is Disney really this desperate to give away BLT that they will give it to castmembers for 50% off ---- and some properties we have found for MORE.

I thought DVC guests would be ALL OVER these new rooms.

I wonder just how popular the MK view will be after a couple of years and owners have had a chance to stay there with that view.

The MK view costs 20% more points than the lake view. I wouldn't be surprised if the lake view becomes a lot more popular after awhile. Besides seeing the lake, the LV rooms will have views of the exterior of the resort itself as you look left and right.

I expect MK view to be popular during the holidays, especially with seasonal decorations, and the sun setting early so all the lights show. But mid summer, with the MK basically being in daylight until later, I don't think a MK view will be as popular and suspect that MK views will become available at 7-months.

For those of you who have been to BLT, what are the standard views of?
Lesley

i don't think anybody has been to BLT. it's not opened till august.

Sorry, you're right:rotfl: , I should have just said "does anyone know what the standard views would be of?"

Have people somehow been able to get into BLT? Some kind of special tours??? :confused3

I doubt it. Somebody posted on another thread that she was caught too close to the property and security came rushing to get them off the property as if it was Area 51. :confused3

.. security came rushing to get them off the property as if it was Area 51.

Does that mean the the Mouse has aliens around? Maybe that is why Alien Encounter was changed to Stich- perhaps it really DID escape one time!!! :scared1:

Either that or thats where they filmed the moon landing with the props. :lmao:

Yep...that's us. No matter how much I would like to stay at BLT in September, it is silly for us to NOT use our developer points at SSR. We'll have to wait to do BLT in December!

When I bought BLT, I was told it would open in September. I planned my vacation for then. Now BLT is opening in August but my dates are set. I can't be the only one. Plus I only booked two days at BLT, the rest will be at SSR with developer's points.

I am in a similar boat as you -- I am using up my SSR points then going to BLT for 2 nights to make my trip be a week long... my wager is a lot of people are doing this same thing. As much as I wanted to rent my SSR points it's not the best time economically to do that and I'd risk not having my 2BR room if I didn't book now, etc...

I asked this Q on the phone today when I booked -- i was told."Tree line, parking lot or Contemporary hotel."

Well, at least there is a nice view on the Contemporary. And of course, keep an eye on your car. :happytv:
