BLT: Why so much availability?

Well, at least there is a nice view on the Contemporary. And of course, keep an eye on your car.

LOL I booked Std View for our stay (for now) as we won't be in our room much and I have a request for a room on a high floor so if we look out straight the view won't be so bad

Just remember a higher floor for standard view may well be the second or maybe 3rd floor

Looking at the 2 bedroom lockoffs as individual 1BR and Studios since they can be booked that way... BCV = 282 rooms, BLT = 428 rooms.

yeah but as we all know that wont be the Norm.... a lot of big families needing the bigger room configurations so it will likely be much lower for the average.

Oh boy - DH and I were just talking about this very fact.

In the past, just about the only DVC property we could find for castmember rates were OKW and SSR - and only studios.

DH was checkingout castmember rates last week and BLT is listed for EVERYTHING....studios, 1 br up to Grand Villa.

Is Disney really this desperate to give away BLT that they will give it to castmembers for 50% off ---- and some properties we have found for MORE.

I thought DVC guests would be ALL OVER these new rooms.

We cannot use our points for the rooms not currently released into inventory... so if the numbers people are saying accurate DVC members can currently only reserve like 1/3 of the resort......the other 2/3 is off limits to DVC members at the moment. So for the moment Non-DVC rooms are in LARGE supply.

This will all change in time as inventory is declared as sales progress.

This has been such an odd trend the last year or so. We stayed in a 1 BR at BWV the last trip and a whoppingly big castmember discount....the first week in Decmeber when things were supposed to be so busy with DVC. Choices were wide open!

DH just checked again today and BLT pops up before all other DVC...and availability throughout the resorts is fabulous.

Why would Disney give us such big discounts?

DVC resorts were very busy in early December, the room you got at BWV with a discount was not booked on points, so it comes from a different inventory of rooms. I am sure you would have had great difficulty getting the same room using points.

I assume because BLT is only somewhat sold out, so not alot of members are fighting for the rooms. ?? Maybe..

I think you hit the nail on the head. The only ones who can make a reservation at 11 months are owners and what has been sold is only a fraction of what will be sold. I think the present will be the easiest to get a BLT resie, at least until the hypedies down. JMHO.

Again, as Sammie previously stated, these are never available on points....you are booking through cash. The cash side of every resort is hurting, and you will continue to see deep discounts to get you and others in. Has no relationship to DVC point availability.

the guides have only sold to 4th floor (I think)

this is a 15th floor (really 16 - but gv) building. so not even a 1/3 is DVC.

so yes there will be plenty to rent at BLT for a while. don't expect it to get better next year either.

in 4 years - BLT might be hard to get - but until then most DVC members will probably be able to get it. and the general public through renting.

I guess this isn't a DVC observation....but what I'm saying is DVC has always had very limited availability for castmember discounts.

Now they can't give it away fast enough to us.


Show me some Grand Californian DVC good deals and I'll be all over it. Our DVC experience in Florida in December was lack-luster and we thought the castmember price was actually the FAIR retail price for the facility. DVC by cash is CRAZY over-priced!
