BLT visit?

I was wondering if it was possible to go into BLT just to look around inside the hotel without actually staying there. I don't mean TOWL because I know that's only for guests. On our last DVC trip we went and did some hotel site seeing of sorts and we were nervous to ring the bell or whatever to go inside and look around. We just wanted to walk around the lobby and what not. We're not looking for a tour of the rooms, we just wanted to look around and see the decor and stuff. I don't want to call my guide about this since we're not interested in adding on at this time. :)

Side note: Does anyone else go to a restaurant and see a BLT on the menu and have Bay Lake Tower as their first thought instead of the sandwich :rotfl2:!!

BLT can only be accessed with a key card. But there's nothing really to see. A couple of plants and a couple of chairs. That's it. I think Kidani has a better lobby.

I'd say go to SSR and ask your guide to see the model, but I believe the BLT model either has been or is being dismantled and replaced by an Aulani model...

Inside the actual BLT building, there's very little to see except the lobby, Community Hall and hallways...

There's really nothing to see at BLT. Just hallways with doors, like you'd see in any hotel. It's just a building with rooms and a lounge on top. All of the amenities (shops, dining, etc) are in the CR tower, so if you want to get a feel for what a stay at BLT would be like, just explore CR. You can check out the beach, grounds and marina. I think the BLT pool is visible from outside the fence, but if not, there are loads of pics available online.

Thanks so much for the replies :)! We'll probably just skip trying to see the inside. We like to tour the resorts from time to time just to kill so extra time we have on our hands. When we were there the last time we took a little tour around the Contemporary for the first time and figured we could do the same at BLT. It's not really a big deal we were just curious :goodvibes.

I have to say I agree with others.... having stayed there there's not much to see :lmao::lmao:

Maybe call DVC when you get to Florida. They have been offering a BLT meeting type of thing a few times a week. They play games and try to sell you more points. They took us on a tour of the building/grounds. I'm not sure how long they will keep offering this type of meeting though.
We did this in December and had a good time.

If you have extra time you may just want to stop by. Often the doors are open and a room key isn't required for access.

The day we bought into DVC we did this. We walked in and the CM in the lobby was happy to let us see the lobby and the pool area/community hall, etc. Agree its a small lobby with not much in it, but it made us very happy nonetheless!

Yea i would swing by and ask if you can look around. I don't see them saying no. You might give a call to your guide and ask if they are doing any tours. I actually think it is a very nice building and love the court yard area. The bamboo trees are a trip... :goodvibes I will tell you though, there really isn't a lobby, well there is, but it is basically two desks and a big chandelier. The center court yard and pool areas are what you want to look at. Have a great trip and i would run by and take a look.

Yes! Especially since someone around here with the initials DG always calls BLT the sandwich when referring to the resort. :rotfl:

I agree with the others, you can see the BLT lobby from the front windows. It reminds me of a condo lobby without any mailboxes. You can walk around back and look at the founding members fountain and see the pool from the fence area. But you cannot actually walk around the pool itself because you need a KTTW card to get into it's gate. All the restaurants and shops are over at CR.

They were doing formal presentations at 1pm and allowing access to the BLT model rooms in BLT from 2-4 last we were there. Just stop by the DVC kiosk outside of Chef Mickey's in CR.

Otherwise, you can also do so at SSR between 2-4 if a current member. They will allow members to view models without the formal tour during those hours. At SSR I believe you can see BLT and AKV, Aulani coming?

I just saw the BLT models yesterday. They are open 2-4 every day apparently. You can also just ask any staff at a resort if they have any open villas to see. We did that at VWL before our reservation at Artist Point.
