BLT Views

I know a tonne of people will disagree with me...but I gotta say...even at the 9th floor I really don't see it worth the extra points.
You still have a massive carpark in your foreground and immediate line of sight.
I think the lake view is more beautiful and tranquil.

I appreciate the photos for future reference though and I hope you enjoy the 9th floor.

Granted, we were on the 11th floor, but IMHO, this view from the bed is worth the extra points, for a few nights:

I agree that some "re-pointing" is in order. Take some of the LV's that have a decent MK view to the left and reclassify them. That could free up enough points to classify everything below the 5th floor as LV or SV.

Since we have no small kids, MK access is convenient, but not the main resaon we liked BLT. It's because of the MK view + the rest of Seven Seas Lagoon, monorail, GF, Poly, etc.

That is good to know, Thanks.

I guess 3rd floor is going to be the least desired then for MK views.
That would seem to be the case.

However, I think there is more to the story or perhaps it is already changing.

Work2play just reported getting a standard view 1 bedroom that was on the 3rd floor. She later went back to the front desk to get another key (son lost one) and asked the CM if they got an upgrade. CM looked it up and said it was SV. Also said there were standard view rooms on floors 1 - 5 but didn't know specifically where they all were. Interesting.

Seems to me that the MK views should at least be higher than the monorail track. That said, I think the night views are the ones that rule for the MK views. You'll be able to see the parking lots no matter how high you get. It just comes with the view of the MK.

It's not just a DVC issue - Disney pulls this elsewhere... before DVC, we paid premium $ for a YC "water view". Ended up on first floor, way over by the Dolphin, parking lot side, looking at a quiet pool that nobody uses.
I agree that the view for the OP is not optimal. It would be nice for an additional "home-resort advantage" to somehow give priority for higher floors to ressies made before 7 months.
The lesson for me is to not get your hopes set so high that you begin a hard-earned vacation with disappointment. Over the course of ownership, we all need to have our share of dumpster views. It looks like if you stay BLT MK view 4 times, you'll probably end up with 2 magical MK views, 1 really nice MK view, and 1 MK view that is a little disappointing. Not too bad overall. If anyone believes they were promised magical experiences every DVC trip, they are destined for disappointment. Substandard views, hurricanes, pandemic viruses and days of inclement weather are always lurking out there... Relax, you've got decades of DVC vacations for the experiences to all even out.:thumbsup2

I would have to agree! I'm not liking the parking lot view/MK view.
Don't get me wrong....BLT looks like a great resort and unbeatable location to MK and we hope to try it in the future. It's just too bad you have to sacrifice a great view with a parking lot full of cars.

Dh and I have a MK view booked in October and Im not expecting it to go well at all. I felt so ripped off at AKV Concierge when we got the 1 bed without the tub. I dreamt about soaking in my tub the whole car ride to WDW to get there and MS tell me that Im not guaranteed a tub!!:lmao:

BWV was under different management. I doubt if anything changes with these views. I am looking forward to my stay at BLT, but I have also booked stays in a Lake view for November and a standard view for September to compare. Going forward, I will not book MK view, for those points, there should be zero possibility of receiving what the OP received. I dont like to move on my vacation, takes too much time. I cant get settled in until we are settled.
I think Standard view is the best deal in town at BLT. Anything you get is a bonus:laughing:

At AKV Kidani, the parking lot views are standard views and you are looking at a whole lot less parking! I know its not the same location, but it sure does give one pause.

I agree. When this resort was announced and being built I always looked at that massive parking lot and wondered how they could work around it. View wise you cannot, unless you are high enough up (even then, the parking lot is still below you, just not in your sight line as much).

For my money (and my points) I probably wouldn't risk a MK view. Once this resort starts filling up and that 9th floor room is simply not there to move your to, you may well have to eat that 4th floor MK view. For the point preminum that is being charged, I just don't think that is acceptable.

While I agree that the view at night is probably much more "magical", the day time view just seems to be lacking. The Bay Lake view seems like the better bet: all the amenities of the BLT location without coughing up MK points for a parking lot view.

I would not consider this a MK view.
I am hoping that my room in January is on a higher floor!

Can someone please confirm for me that the Grand Villa I have booked for BLT family reunion will be on the top floors? It looks like that's the only place with the 2-story windows, but I did get MK view and I will be more than mad if I am not high up in the building with a GV ressie...

Like someone else posted, this issue reminded me of the stress over Savannah view at AKV Concierge. I paid alot of points, made the request, but got the pool view anyway. I complained and after one night, they offered to switch us to the Savnnah view. I was happy, but then realized that Savannah view is not that great anyway. (the pool view was BAD, it was mostly a roof with pool in the distance)/

AGAIN, BAD DVC DESIGN! ALL Concierge rooms should have the BEST views in the hotel, and the lounge should face out to the animals as well! (imho)

At least it looks like all the BLT MK view GV rooms are top floor.

I have a 2 BR MK view, Fri and Sat night in Janaury, that cost me ALOT of points, and now I am worred.

All GVs are top floor.

We are staying one night in December after our cruise in a one bedroom MK view room. I made no requests with the reservation but I'm calling MS right now to add a request for "highest floor possible" to my reservation.

I stayed at BLT room 7304, it is a stadard view. We looked at the lake and MK. It was standard because it was on 3rd floor.

The absolute best way to get to the MK is the VWL boat. :thumbsup2

Fast, efficient, scenic and never crowded even at closing.

I agree completely!! We love VWL! We are staying at BLT at my DH's request for his birthday.
We do have one night w/a MK view...I am really second guessing it.

Great thread.

So what floor and above justifies whether we consider it a true MK view or not. Seems a total judgment call to me so it makes sense that the resort managers would have also when they assigned categories.

For people that say the 4th floor view is not a MK view, then should people in lake view rooms that can slightly turn and see the MK from theirs be considered MK views?

Bottom line is each guest will have a different judgment on whether they got the view they rented or not at BLT - and that is what BLT is all about after all. That's why it will be important for each guest to let the front desk know if they don't feel they got what they paid for.

Yep, I like the standard view at Kidani. Very reasonable number of points and view isn't all that horrible for those less points. I'm over the whole "gotta have savanna view" thing so it works perfectly for me. Short of a room right along the parking lot/pool walkway, I don't mind people watching over animal watching. Love the size of the Kidani 1br villas over most it's other DVC resort counterparts. (BWV, SSR, BCV, VWL are such cookie cutter sizes/layouts - much prefer varied ones like OKW, Kidani and BLT are)

The "value" villas at Jambo are even a better point value but you may luck out and get a savanna view for very few points. However, not staying in one yet, I'm concerned about the size of the villa. I have to wait and see if the less points is worth it there.

DVC knew BLT would be popular so they knew they could charge premium points. It's quite a bit more expensive than the rest so I'm glad AKL is my primary home resort. I think I would be happy with just a lake view at BLT, like I am with standard at Kidani. Didn't look - how do the lake view points compare to other resorts?

Am i mistaken or did I read somewhere that only 20% of the rooms at BLT were MK view - if so, it doesn't make sense that MK view rooms would extend down to the 3rd floor. The OP's photo should really be a standard view room. I think they will experience unending grief with transfer requests if they keep that a MK view.
