BLT View Upgrade Waitlist/Banked points ??

Hello everyone,

I have a reservation for BLT for a week in December for a Bay Lake View, but am on the wait list for a Magic Kingdom view. Here's my question:

I have 41 points left over since I only got Bay Lake View. But I don't know if I can bank them, since if I do get the Magic Kingdom view, I will need all of them. However, the deadline to bank points is in September, and I may not know if I get the upgrade until after then. Do I just have to keep those points and NOT bank them in the hopes that I'll get the upgrade, and if not, will I just "lose" those points? It would be nice if I could bank them and then if I get the upgrade, they just take them "back" from the banking.

You can't take the banked points back, but you can use borrowed points from your contract to pay for the waitlist. I would wait awhile to see if the waitlist comes through, but then bank the points if it doesn't. I tell MS where to take the "extra" points from when a waitlist does come through, and you should do that too.

I think you can go ahead and bank them, as long as you still have other 2010 points that can be borrowed.

If you bank the points into your February 2010 UY, they will become 2010 points and will have to be used during that UY. However, your 2010 points, can be "borrowed" back into 2009 UY to cover the December 2009 trip.

So, technically, they would be using different points, but the net result is the same. If you are already planning to use all of your 2010 points to cover this trip as well, then you would be stuck.

Thanks for the replies guys! I totally spaced on the "borrowing" points. I mean, I knew about it, but since this is my first year, I didn't think about it yet, like I wouldn't need it in the immediate future. I'm so glad there are some points wizards on these boards!

I am not using my 2010 points this year since I also have the "Developer points" to spend at SSR, and am staying a week a BLT. Any more Disney for 09 and even I might get a little "Disneyed-out!"

I've been reading about a lot of people's wait lists coming through, so I will just wait it out until the end of August and make my decision then. It's good to know I won't lose the points though.
