BLT & Treeshouse DVC Announced

It depends on what you want. Contemporary is a much higher valued resort because of location. The existing rooms cost more than a studio in SSR... so it makes sense to me it costs more.

Chris

We've been consistently paying in the $450 range for our MK room at CR. I'm so happy I don't have to give up my MK view to get the DVC benefits. I'm quite happy to fork over the money for BLT. Going 1 week a year, we already spend $30000 in 10 years. I'm spending that much and getting 50 years.

MK view rooms during Adventure season are about 40% higher than BWV-PV, BCV, and AKV - SV.:scared1:

Assuming Sun. to Thurs., 5 nights would be:

Studio (MK view) - 85 pts
1 BR...................160 pts
2 BR...................220 pts
GV.....................440 pts

Unless I did that wrong.

AKV - Savannah view:

Studio..................55 pts
1 BR....................115 pts
2 BR....................150 pts
GV......................345 pts

BWV - Preferred

Studio....................60 pts
1 BR......................110 pts
2 BR.....................150 pts
GV........................370 pts

Yikes! Those are some really fugly rooms. I knew they'd have to stay themed but I thought they'd kick it up a notch. Looks like a Super 8.

Either you haven't stayed in a Super 8 lately (I have), or you got the nicest Super 8 on the planet.

I think the decor looks great, one of the reasons I'm not especially excited to stay in SSR is the department-store-colonial furniture.

I agree, I am a bigtime SSR lover but the room decor is not my cup of tea. I like the decor in the public areas thoug. They didn't take any bold risks owhen designing the SSR rooms, One benefit of SSR's decor is that it has a broad appeal- few people will have a gag reaction to it. Unlike the BLT decor- So far, I have heard "Love It" and "Hate it". At least SSR so vanilla that at least most people aren't repulsed by it. They can be just indifferent about it. To me it is bland at best, and even some of the furniture woodwork reminds me of furniture at the Good Will.
(Now, somebody can come on and tell me I have never been to a Good Will, or if I did, it must have been the nicest Good Will on the planet.:rotfl: )
Just opinions...
But I ADORE the BLT rooms. They are PERFECTO!

I think the decor is very much in keeping with the current decorating trend.
Look at Macy's catalogs or home stores, or any of the "sell this house" type HG show and that is what you'll see.
It probably is more of an urban look than a lot of people like.

My Navy barracks room had the same decor.:scared1:
1 reason I purchased DVC even though we were eligible for SOG. I was traumatized by those barracks and do not want to stay in anything similar.

Who was their decorator? GSA!:lmao:

Im excited about the THV's at SSR but BLT needs a re-do!:wizard:

For Sun-Thurs: 1 BR (S, L, MK) 24, 27, 32 points; 2 BR (S, L, MK) 32, 36, 44 points.

For Fri-Sat: 1 BR (s, L, MK) 41, 44, 55 points.
Thank You so much, I appreciate you doing that :flower3:
If you are not a current owner then you will be required to purchase a minimum of 160 pts.

Thanks! I was trying to find out if I'd actually need more than the 160pt minimum for the type of room we'd want :thumbsup2 Just to make sure we'd buy enough points.

No, I had the misfortune to stay in one on a trip down to NC and it looks pretty much the same. Like they were trying for modern but just wound up with cheezy.

It's just not my cuppa tea, but I'm willing to admit that many may find it appealing.

It does look a bit less cheesy in some of the other pics. I was mostly reacting to the video which is not imho a good ambassador for the property.
I'm not a cheerleader for SSR by any means. So don't think to hurt my feelings by slamming it. I've never actually stayed there despite owning and our upcoming trip has us only there one night. We bought to get into dvc...period.

I had clicked on the dvcmember link to the points chart but it was blank. Must be my browser. That's why I posted the inquiry -- the disboard link got me the info.

Now I gotta figure out how many points to buy!

Thanks for the offer. While I still can't seem to access the points chart on dvcmember, the disboard link had the full chart that someone posted so I was able to check it out. It looks like a standard view room at BLT is within a point or two of a preferred view room at BWV in most seasons. Then you tack on a 3-4 points/night to go up to lake view and a 7-10 more to go up to MK view, roughly speaking.

I really liked the decor in the video- but now that I see groverdog's pic I LOVE:lovestruc the decor. I am a big fan of 50's style modern furniture and this is PERFECT.
Groverdog- where did you get that pic?

As a girl with brown upholestered bucket seats with chrome legs and an Ikea sofa in her living room, I could not be more pleased. DFi and I think BCV and OKW and SSR are beautiful but too tradition for our tastes. We dislike the beds immensely. This looks perfect. I was so excited for BLT and now I am glad that I held out, I almost went for the 100 point deal at AKV or a resale at VWL... This is PERFECT for me. :lovestruc

So sales start Sunday huh, that just so happens to be the first day of the DVC Members Cruise this year......interesting.:thumbsup2
