BLT Tour

I'm considering trying to tour BLT on our April trip. Should I just ask the DVC rep at WL? We have a lot of stuff planned, but could probably work it in on our first day, since we weren't planning on going to a park? The fast passes would be nice, but really...I just want to see what the places look like, since I'm thinking about buying in the next 12 months. I do NOT want to get into a situation where we spend 4 hours in high pressure sales he**, though.

Thoughts? Is it possible to tour later in the day? We won't be on property until 12:30 or so our first day.

The tour wdrl is referring to was for current DVC members interested in an add on or just curious about BLT. However, they do tours of BLT for new buyers as well. Our SIS just did a tour at the models at SSR last December. She had the option of going to BLT to see actual rooms. The ASA cast members do not do high pressure sales. They did give comments as to why you should buy but we did not feel pressured what so ever. When we met with a guide at the end he just asked if we had any questions and left it that. He confirmed that our regular guide would get credit if we purchased an add on. I believe the two guides actually share the commission. Regular tours are given throughout the day. We saw a DVC rep. manning the booth in the BLT lobby morning and afternoon. Definitely check with your DVC rep at WL, they will set you up for a tour at your convenience, they will pick you up and deliver you back to where you want to be as well.

while I was at CR for a conference. I'd been debating the pros and cons of DVC since my family trip last Nov to CR. I got a $100 gift card offer in my room at CR for taking the DVC tour. I'd already been in communication with a guide by phone so I just sat with the guy for a little bit and got some more questions answered and then looked at the model rooms and the TOWL (which is very nice by the way). I told him I needed to call my family and talk about it before I made a decision, since I was there by myself for work on that trip. I left the presentation with my gift card and I called him back later that day and bought 160 points (hope to add on later). There was no pressure and I did not feel trapped. My family will be taking the tour next month on our first trip home and hopefully we can get the fastpasses that are being offered. We'll see..

We did the tour this morning. We booked it about 2 weeks ago, and last week they changed the time to 1pm, but they couldn't get in touch with us, though we are positive we gave them our cell number. Anyway, another couple were supposed to turn up but didn't, and you should have seen the enormous breakfast spread in the TOTW lounge!!!!!!!!!! I'm not kidding, it would have fed 50 people, and there were just my husband and I. :rotfl2::rotfl2:It was so beautifully laid out, fresh and delicious, but even though the guy showing us round kept popping back and saying take your time, I felt we shouldn't, so didn't really get to try everything I would have liked. Wow, what a view too.:thumbsup2

We just loved BLT. My husband was adamant we wouldn't add on, but he almost signed up there and then.:lmao: However, we do need a little time to think about it. We received double fastpasses - I think we got the other couple's allocation too. We didn't receive any pins, lanyards etc, nor did we have quizzes!!

IMHO the service received after the sale is much less then what you see and get before you buy, especially for first time buyers.

We have purchased several add ons and getting them to part with a fast pass is like you have asked them for a body part.

We went to the tour on sunday. We had walked into the open house on the boardwalk just to see what their rooms were like, and we were told about it. DH was not about adding on at all so he said he was humoring me by going. Well thanks to that open house I am now the proud owner of 130pts add on at SSR!!!!! We recieved $17 off a point for SSR. We actually left the meeting with out buying. DH and I talked about it and he decided that it was a good enough deal for him so we just went to SSR the next day and our guide was available and we got everything done with her. DH loved the swag too.

I just don't get it:
SSR - $112 current price

Buy:

50 - 100 points - $10 credit
100 - 124 points - $12
125 -159 - $14
160 -199 - $16
200 or more - $18

At any of those price points it's wayyyy cheaper to go resale on SSR. On a 200 point contract you would save approx. $4000 going through resale. The whole credit p/point thing is silly.

Congratulations! I'd like to add on at SSR too, mainly because I'm intrigued by the Treehouse Villas and SSR's close location to DTD. Enjoy your new points!

We took a tour last week at the preview center. Our guide was great and answered a ton of questions that we had. DW and I were ready to sign on the spot, but decided to "sleep on it" just to make sure we weren't making an impulse buy.

Our guide invited us to tour BLT a couple days later, and we met him over there for a "personal tour" of a couple of the rooms and of course TOTW Lounge.

Needless to say, we ended up buying 160 points. We were going to buy even before the 2nd tour, but it was nice to actually get the tour before buying.

So I would say, ask for a tour at BLT if you are interested. I'm sure when people actually see what the property looks like they will be more inclined to buy....

I took the TOTWL tour Mar 5th. I was interested in 50pt BLT add on, if the price was right. During the presentation, they didn't even mention the 50 pt level and the 100pt level wasn't any bargin so I didn't even meet with a guide.

I read that someone else attended an afternoon TOTWL presentation and the incentives were better (but still not great IMHO). Maybe the incentives have changed in the past week with bringing back the cruise offer. :confused3 (I would have been pretty upset if I had added on at the Mar 5th presentation getting the "exclusive special incentives" only to find out that a week later they were offering better incentives... )

I wouldn't call the presentation high pressure. There were some comments made by the guides during the presentation that require a "reality check". Like BLT is selling out.... (I didn't think it was even 100% declared into inventory and I thought they might be 50% sold out... but, I could be wrong).

We were told yesterday by the guide that BT is 50% sold out. The way he said it made you think that was fantastic and you had better get in there quick!!

The guides must not be telling the truth about how much of BLT is sold. We were told it was 70% sold and would be sold out by summer.

That had no bearing in our final decision though.

The guides may not be 100% correct on how much is sold, but I would agree that BLT is fantastic (at least IMHO)....

WDRL has been tracking sales of BLT and 50% of the points have been sold and recorder with the Orange County Comptroller just this month.

I think that's just 50% of the declared units and they havn't declared them all yet. Or am I wrong?

Based on deeds recorded with the Orange County Comptroller through March 12, 2010, 50.39% of BLT's estimated 5,733,530 total points have been sold. BLT crossed the halfway mark in points sold on March 5, 2010 according to the OCC records. In addition, 63.04% of BLT's total points have been declared for the DVC membership. TSMIII has a thread that has more information about BLT that might interest you (see http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2212548).
