Hi - I got an email from DVC today that BLT is expected to sell out in late summer. I was surprised because I didn't think it would be selling out that soon.

I thought it would have sold out long before now. It was for sale when we bought in 2009. We were told to get it while we could. ;)

I got an e-mail from my guide as well. I think the experts here have been saying it would be sold out around this time. Wonder how long it will be before they announce the next DVC?

I also got the same email, and I talked to my guide last week and he confirmed that BLT is considered "sold out"--which in DVD lingo means "no more discounts". So you can still get it at $140/pp, but that's it!

Didn't they start telling us it was going to sell out about 2 months after they started selling! :lmao:

I honestly don't trust them on this.... I think it's a "sales technique" to get folks who are "on the fence" to jump!

They have cried "wolf" on this one a LOT IMHO!

I got the e-mail... at $140 a point, I'm not buying it. I'll consider the next WDW resort.

It was supposed to have sold out early summer but with the economy and the increase in price sales have slowed. With that said, it should sell out late summer but i suspect that all "sold out" means is they no longer actively advertise it or give discounts... It probably will always be for sale direct. :)

I would be they will announce GF DVC by next summer. I honestly think there will be a DVC at each of all of the Monorail hotels. They raked in the money hand over fist from BLT. No way they will not go after that money!

It will sell out if we all buy right now.:rotfl2: But I think I"ll wait if I buy BLT untill after I have stayed there and see if I like it.:confused3 I'm happy right now, with AK and OKW.:goodvibes

DVD has a history of anticipating sell out very early, IMO, as a way to try to force sell out. Like marking things up then putting them on sale. With VWL for example, they announced sell out when BCV was coming on board anticipating that with the push of those already thinking about it and the under the table sales when it wasn't formally being marketed would sell it out. It didn't and they had to officially reopen sales a year or so later to finish it out.

I doubt DVD will need to "officially" reopen sales at BLT. Ninety percent of the resort is sold and there are only about 510K points left for DVD to sell to the public. Even though sales will probably slow down now that advertised incentives have been withdrawn, I imagine that DVD will have no problems converting whatever it doesn't sell into cash reservations.

The point was that they have a history of announcing sell out early as a sales tactic and that at least once, they've far overshot themselves.

True, but in BLT's case, I doubt DVD is overshooting the mark in saying BLT is about to be "sold out" later this summer. As we know, "sold out" is not the same as "not available." Even though DVD has eliminated incentives for BLT to the general public, it wouldn't surprise me to hear that attendees at special functions, such as the "Vacation with Character" presentations, DCL sailings, D23 meeting, etc., might be offered special incentives on BLT points.

I think we're saying about the same thing in different ways. Sold out should be mean it's not available routinely for most use years at the time of the announcement or close thereafter. In DVD's case, it seems to mean we're about 80% sold out and we hope the announcement itself puts us over the hump. Come to think of it, I believe they announced HH was sold out simply out of frustration and to save face. Not that much different than a bank writes off a loan to get it off their ledger. It's certainly their option to do so, just saying that sold out doesn't really mean it's sold out. Plus, as you allude to, there will always be the possibility of a future retail purchase due to canceled or failed contracts or ROFR. The one I'm waiting to see how it goes, and how they handle it, is HI.

I remember doing the pre open tour with the big " we think this will sell out in less then a year so buy now" speech. Yeah right!
