We're getting ready to head down to WDW and are staying at the BLT - the only reason we're going is that we are doing the bounceback 3 night Disney cruise and it seemed a shame to drive all the way down there for 3 days when we had points for a pre cruise stay. We're on a tight budget and are considering not even going in the theme parks. Anyone have suggestions for extra fun stuff at the BLT to distract the kids from not going to the Magic Kingdom? I know the pool looks great and I noticed someone mentioned the CH. Suggestions are greatly appreciated - also if anyone has stayed there, how was it?:surfweb:

Since it looks like you have stayed at the Contemporary before, you know the amenities of the resort. There is a shuffle board court near the pool at BLT and it looks like there might be a lawn bowling court as well. The kids could always spend time in the arcade on the 4th floor of the hotel. Ride the monorail around Seven Seas Lagoon and transfer to the Epcot line for a different view.

Take a boat over to the Wilderness Lodge and walk to Fort Wilderness. It's a nice walk through the "wilderness".

With all the other resorts to explore and Downtown Disney as well, you should keep busy for the 3 days.

Have fun on the cruise. pirate:

Just got back from BLT yesterday. It was so nice. The pool was awesome. It had a nice waterslide and a kiddie waterslide. There were shuffle board court, ping pong, hot tub, etc. There is the arcade at Contemporary. You could rent a jet ski or boat, etc from Bay Lake. You can watch the fireworks from the Observation Deck at the Contemporary or even the walkway.

There used to be a petting zoo type thing at Fort Wilderness along with pony rides. don't know if they still have those, but the campfire with smores at FW has been mentioned recently I think. We haven't stayed there in years, but it was such a nice, relaxing atmosphere there.

The Community Hall at the BLT is really nice. They have scheduled activities like crafts and you can make ice cream for a fee. They also have bingo and games at the pool in the afternoon. It might be hard to be sooo close to the MK and not go in for a visit.
