BLT studios - BATHROOM sink in kitchen???

Except for OKW studio. The sink is in the bathroom.

Kidani Studios also have the extra door giving folk the option of closing off the entire bathroom including the sink.

BTW - the comment about kids and bathrooms without sinks has me thinking of bringing wet wipes to leave in the commode area to aid with hand washing before leaving the room.

Yep - which is exactly what we did.

I did today after I made my post above. I have to admit I surprised myself after making so many negative comments as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at BLT.

I had very similar feelings. I did enjoy the stay also and there are a lot of positives. But I kept running into all these little nagging things that just seemed to be missed or forgotten - many that could be easily fixed.

DH and I stayed in a BLT studio for one night and found the layout strange for sure.

I'll be testing the studio for 1 night in July for this exact reason. I have a feeling our VWL studio for 6 nights after the BLT one will feel wonderful and extraordinarily well thought out.

I'm sure you'll savor the VWL studio more than ever after doing the BLT. That's what we did in February (w/ 3 adults), and boy did the VWL studio feel spacious!

Despite the obvious size limitation, I still enjoyed being at BLT, and would stay in a studio again with just my wife (I don't think she agrees, though).

As long as everyone is washing their hands after utilizing the throne you'll be fine. You're all in the same boat, have to exit the room before washing hands so the "gross" factor will be quickly eliminated once you've stepped around the wall to wash hands.

I have to admit I don't get this horror of having a door between the throne and the sink. Everyone that touches that door should be washing their hands when they are finished. Every DVC resort at WDW (except for OKW) has a separate area for the sink from the toilet area. It's the same when using the public rest rooms at the parks or a restaurant. No big deal, wash your hands.

I have to say, having used lots of different style kitchens, that gallery style is my favorite in terms of efficiency - a counter on one side, and appliances on the other so just have to turn around without walking. It's just weird to turn around in the BLT studio kitchen to use the counter, and it's a bathroom sink instead. Too bad they didn't just make it a counter, with an elevated barstool level for eating that opened up for the view. Would have been much nicer - and just have a sink in the bathroom, and a kitchen sink instead as the 2nd sink. Then, for make-up area, maybe a separate desk next to entertainment center, with a mirror that could be used for make-up too.

When they build these highrises, though, pipe lines can be capped off and then not used, but moving drainage pipes is usually not feasible after construction is complete. Sometimes when trying new designs like this that are not tried and true, this is the risk they take. They should have gotten more feedback before undertaking this development as someone probably would have noticed the problem if more reviews of the plans were done.

Yes, I noticed that the standard view studios are booked for quite some time, so there is demand for them. The location is good, but too bad a family of 4 would be very cramped in a BLT studio.

We stayed in a BLT studio a couple weeks ago for 3 nights with our two teenage DDs. We totally agree about the kitchen/bathroom sink area. Our problem was with the mirror over the sink being vertical. Getting ready in the morning would have been much easier if the mirror was horizontal like at BWV and more than one person could be using it at a time.

LOL! I'm sure he would "love" it as much as we don't! Frankly, I think they should have gone back and read Richyam's posts about BWV before they redid the layout design of the 3 newest DVC's! I hate some of those same things about AKV! The high counters, motion sensor fan, etc. Yep, it almost has prompted us to sell our AKV points. Well, except for the fact that we LOVE having the savannah view for a few nights, so we'll likely keep it just to use a couple of nights once in awhile. Like Richyams though, I don't think you can beat OKW in layout, space, points, etc. etc.

When my husband and I stayed at a BLT studio for my 50th birthday trip, the layout of the sinks didn't bother me at all. But we typically don't use the kitchen area except to store water, medication and beer in the refrigerator. I don't even make toast! What annoyed us was the pocket door for the bathroom that just doesn't close all the way. But with the two of us it was fine.

We booked a studio for September 2010 as well and are now faced with having four people there because my sister in law and niece have decided to accompany us. With a child, we think that BLT is a great location and hate to think of changing but I'm not sure I can stand 3 adults and one child in the BLT studio! My husband thinks it will be worth it for the location and we won't be in the room very much anyhow. But I keep thinking of those big studios at OKW! If I had enough points this year I'd just try to upgrade to a 1 bedroom at BLT but that isn't happening.
