BLT Studio vs. OKW Studio - WWYD

We are currently staying in a BLT standard view studio for 5 nights in early June. We stayed there right around the time it opened and enjoyed it; love the proximity to the MK. I am thinking about adding an extra night since airfare would still be the same and in my mind the more of WDW the better BUT, I am totally out of points; completed tapped out - I’ve borrowed all I can and bought the one time UY points - I mean I am really out of points. We could try to get into AKV, but that is where we usually stay and my DS15 requested to stay anywhere different this year.

Here is my dilemma: I have never stayed at OKW, but we could afford the extra night with points and it is available. It is the only DVC property I haven’t stayed in because it has never appealed to me - I don’t like the apartment feel. We will have a rental car, so buses aren't an issue.

So, considering we could only do a studio at OKW, not one of the fabulous 1 or 2 bedrooms, do you think it would be worth giving up BLT just for one extra night?

never give up BLT for anything....but I stayed years at OKW (brought in 93) before BLT was even a dream.

OKW is nice - one thing that might bother you is the 2 queen beds - so no sofa to enjoy the time in the room.

othewise is a beautifully resort - has several pools, and bus stops - although you say you would drive - the only place that I recommend is the taking the bus to the MK. otherwise it could take you longer.

OKW has an excellent bus service for it being in the deluxe cat - generally they are the worst. I know makes no sense you pay the most money to WDW and in return - WDW gives the best bus service to the values.

I would for the extra night. OKW is super close to Epcot too. We are not fans of OKW as a resort but we weren't fans of BLT either. But why not try it out and get that extra night???

I think you answered your own question. There's probably a reason you bought BLT and AKV instead of OKW. Why put up with what you don't like just to get an extra night?

Believe it or not that is what is a pro for OKW on this trip. My DS has always complained about sleeping on a sofa bed even though I personally love the extra room the couch gives you while closed up during the day.

I probably should have mentioned we are on a waitlist for BWV - standard view studio, but I'm sure my chances of that are pretty low.

Personally, I would stick with BLT. I have stayed at both, and actually own at both, and prefer BLT (I wish I could sell OKW points..). You can WALK to MK, monorail to Epcot. Just the simple time savings of nothing having to wait on a bus, plus you are in the middle of the action, if that is your type of thing.

If you are mostly going to MK then I would stay at BLT since it is so nice to be able to walk to the park, but if you plan to split your time equally between all the parks and since you have a car, I then go for the extra day and stay at OKW.

Thanks for all the great replies. I have decided to stick with BLT. MK is my son's favorite park and being able to walk over there is just too enticing. I need to try OKW when we can go with a 1 bedroom. I think that's where it shines. And I'm hoping that all the Poly excitement today might open up the Boardwalk Standard view since I am out of that PVB game, too.

I think you made a good choice. We LOVE OKW. The 1 and 2 BR units are hard to beat with all the lovely space....but when we are staying in a studio we always stay elsewhere... Save OKW for sometime when you are doing the 1BR.
And can I say how happy it makes me to see someone else that "points out". Seems like I am the only one around that uses up every possible point trying to work in just one more trip before those AP's expire )
