BLT studio foible?

The plastic ware comes scattered in a drawer,not individually wrapped Ina silverware holder. I called and was told "That's how it's done here.". OK! I also mentioned that I only had 3 cups, and no dish washing liquid. Those were brought up in good time!

This studio BLT stay was a fact finding trip for me to see how 2 adults and 1 child would fit in one. I think we'll do just fine! There are lots of storage cabinets. I like the kitchen and bathroom set up now. We'll do just fine with our DGS in August. I decided to definite stay here for the 2 nights before the others come!

I would NOT like or settle for plastic ware just loose in a drawer without protective wrappers. Imagine if they didn't change it between guests? How would you even know if it isn't individually wrapped?

I agree, but used the Palmolive to wash before use. I am surprised that the issue hasn't been brought up here, so I posted to see if what I was told was true. Has anyone else had this happen, that is, loose plastic ware?

For once, I have a room convenient to elevator! Looking to left from balcony, so what I face when I sit.

I wonder if this is more recent. I know that at least some of the times we have stayed in BLT studios we have had wrapped silverware but I don't remember what we had when we stayed in Nov 2011- I know in Sept 2011 we had wrapped silverware.

We stayed at a studio at BWV's in December and we had wrapped plastic ware there. Don't think it would be different at each resort, at least I hope not cause that is just GROSS!!! If that is the case I would go to Comtempo Cafe and get plastic ware from there, at least you know that it is clean.

We had wrapped plastic ware in Sept. Oct 2011 when we were there.
We do not use them. We bring our own utensils.

Unwrapped plastic ware is -- by definition -- unclean. And therefore unsafe.

Who knows how long it's been in there? Or for that matter -- where it came from?

And how does that differ from the dishes and flatware in a one bedroom?

From what we have learned, most guests do not wash the kitchenware before use and they assume that the restrooms have been properly sanitized.

Wrapped plastic ware has been my experience in every DVC studio until this one. I'll see what MS says.

Isn't the plastic ware in the qs locations unwrapped? Tons of people stick their hands in all day long to grab theirs. If you're worried it only takes a second to wash it off. I believe ours was not wrapped last spring and I've heard it mentioned before that for whatever reason blt is the only resort with the unwrapped plastic ware. Doesn't bother me one bit.

here at blt now - all of the cutlery in the drawer is wrapped - but what probably happened is that it was leftover from the previous occupants - i would throw it out & request more - or just go over to the contemp & get new - we usually throw our extra away - but that's just us - as for the glasses - it's usually a range - we had 4 larger glasses - but we have a 6yo & thought the smaller glass would be better - so we just asked for it - we also always wash mugs & glasses as soon as we get in the room - just in case - the staff has always been helpful with our changes because it's been reasonable (like a kid's glass rather than an adults) -

I talked with Sheila, Member Communication team. Yes, it's done both ways at BLT, but she agreed that she would prefer wrapped, and would wash them as I did. It was not a particularly helpful phone call, but I was called and listened to.

Sheila is nice but doesn't do much but try to make you feel better. I have had other CMs who actually fix the problem and report back what they have done.

Just to chime in...we have stayed at BLT several times the most recent visit late Oct. 2011 and the plasticware was all wrapped.

All the other studios we have stayed in have had wrapped plasticware as well.

We have not stayed at BLT yet but have stayed in studios at several other DVC resorts. One of the first things we do when we arrive is call and ask for real dishes & cutlery to be brought up. We wash them ourselves of course and they take them away at the end of the week.

I didn't know you could request real dishes, I guess I didn't think about it. Could you request wine glasses? We are staying here in a studio in June for the first time! I was going to bring my own.
