BLT Standard View?

And 4th floor at CR is 5th floor at BLT as you go over the connection bridge, right? So the 3rd and 4th floors at BLT have less chance being acceptable as MK view.

I agree.

I'd rather save points and have a better view from the sky bridge than to spend 35% more points to be in a room that people form the sky bridge look down at. Also, 3rd floor is pretty close to the top of the parking lot light posts.

I'll be surprised if Disney doesn't take the same approach they took with the Cruise Line. Initially, DCL classified some restricted balcony rooms as higher categories. After lots of complaints, they moved them down to lower categories.

Well, in our experience last week on opening day, for our 1 bedroom MK view room they first put us on the 3rd floor. We had a great view of the parking lot, the tip of Cinderella's castle, and the back of Space Mountain! Um, not MK view in our opinion! As my DH said, we want the MK view, not a fireworks view!

So we went back to the check in desk at CR and asked for a "real" MK view. We were lucky enough to get the 8th floor, which was great. Still way too much parking lot, but that would be any MK view!

Interesting thing is, we spoke with 2 other people who were given the 3rd floor initially and got moved. I wonder if the folks who checked in later on opening day got stuck with those 3rd floor rooms? I guess someone must have.

Next trip we're going to get a standard view and go up to the TOWL to watch fireworks! Less points, gorgeous place to watch the fireworks, have something yummy to eat, and a nice adult (or not) beverage.

Yes, but if the monorail comes into the CR at floor 4, and your room was on the 3rd or 4th floor at BLT, wouldn't that be a pretty obstructed view of MK? It's supposed to be MK view, not fireworks view. Just seems like a lot of extra points to only 'sorta' get what you were bargaining for?
If the monorail does block the view then I completely agree with you.

you are kidding right - at BLT you get a direct view of the MK - you don't get a direct view of Epcot from BWV.

Now love MK - so that will be fine.

besides most of the views are lake -- BLT has lots of lake views - no parking lot views with most of the lake views.

now there will be parking lot views - some will have MK views (just like CR does) - others will be standard views - no views of the MK - just CR or parking lot.

Unless one is very high up it appears most of the MK views will see the parking lot. I consider that an obstructed view. Also some views of the lake overlook the pool. That is not a view totally of the lake. At BWV a bw view looks totally at the lake. No parking lot, no pool.

We also own at BWV and were glad when they broke out Boardwalk view as its own category.

Since we added on at BLT we are looking forward to a MK view at least once, but from reading the previous posts, it appears we will be disappointed if we are assigned to a lower floor. It seems like they should reclassify MK view as floors 8 to 12 on the outside of the center section and make floors 3 to 7 of the center section "partial MK view". The points for the five floors 3 to 7 reduced, and the points for the five floors 8 to 12 increased.

I know this thread started as BLT Standard, but it has obviously been hijacked.

I wonder just what the standard view criteria is? The more members complain about their room assignments with respect to points the more they may change which rooms qualify as standard, lake and MK views.

I was also wondering about the standard view. Looking at the pictures of MK view with the parking lot in the foreground, I am thinking I would rather have a view of the lake! For the 15 minutes of Wishes, I would rather head up to the TOW lounge and observation deck. I will be checking into a standard view next week so I will report back. My expectation is to be on the first floor facing the parking lot, so I won't be disappointed with whatever I get.

If I can have the kids in pajamas watching Wishes from the 3rd floor then a MK view would be worth it. Anything higher is gravy. Figure the TOW lounge will eventually get crowded to the point that you will need to be there 1-2 hours ahead of time means you might as well watch Wishes from Main Street. Considering I don't care about the view in the daytime since I'll most likely be inside of the MK during the day its not that big a deal seeing part of the parking lot in the morning.

I was told by my guide that standard view rooms would be the lower floors.

I was there for two nights and had a lake view studio. 12th floor, facing north, baylake to the front and right, with tennis courts, space mountain, and the castle to the left.

I could see the fireworks from my balcony better than I could when I stayed in a MK view tower room from the Contemporary. The first night we did TOWL and the 2nd night, just our room.

For me, I think there are a lot of rooms at BLT that will have fireworks views, even if they are not MK view.

Knowing this, I don't forsee ever paying the extra for an MK view. I will take my chances with lake view and hope for a room on the front side of the building.

Thanks for the great photos! I hope I figured out the floor numbers correctly.

2nd number is the floor. So 7211 (2nd floor). The last 2 numbers if they are even are on the outside of the circle. Odd number in side the circle (facing the pool area).

Thanks I didn't know that about the even and odd sides.

Wow, thanks for posting the views! I love 7710, nice views! I like I actually would like that view better that the direct MK view rooms. No view of the parking lot.

Hopefully the standard view room I get next week will be on the lake side (odd numbered room!) I wonder if you can request an odd numbered room!

Based on the photo of 7710, I am guessing by your description that you were near 8210? (If I get the floor number alogrithm right...)

So, the photos of Space Mt and the castle were taken from a Lake View room? If so, I sure hope I get something like that!

Yes, our room was #8206. The last room on the floor was #8204 so we were only one room from the end. Since we were in a lock off studio, I am assuming that #8204 was a 1 bedroom.

We had a great view of Space Mountain and the Castle from our LV studio. So, some of the even # rooms, toward the end of the floor will have fireworks views. We enjoyed watching them our 2nd night from the room. I have pictures and I will try to get them posted.

We just returned from a standard view one bedroom. We were on the second floor room 7220 and had a view of Space Mountain, Astro Orbiter, the Castle, and Wishes. We booked standard view, not expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised with our view.

That's fantastic! Doesn't sound like there is a bad view reported yet at all with "standard view." Just wondering about those rooms on the first few floors right underneath/near the bridge. I think the Contemporary's loading dock is right over there. Those might be standard view I think, but I haven't seen a report of those views anywhere.

I'm so excited to stay here next year. :goodvibes
