Does anyone know exactly what the difference is between a handicap accessible room and a non-handicap accessible room is?? I have seen people talk about 1 BR that end with a ##12 are handicap accessible but have not found what the differences are from a non-handicap accessible room... We stayed in 8410 last August and we were wondering the difference between that and 8412

Thanks

Usually accessible rooms have a roll in shower. The switches are placed lower on the wall.

And the kitchen counters can be lower and have more openings underneath to allow a wheelchair. In addition there often is wider hall space that would allow a chair to maneuver. The kitchen will usually have more floor space which cuts a bit into the living area. The microwave is usually on the counter instead of mounted above the stove so less counter space.

Beds will be lower and the toilets higher. Grab bars around the toilet and in the bath area. And the bathrooms don't have the counter (to allow a chair to roll under) so there's less counter space there as well.
