Would really love to stay at BLT in February with my husband, three year old son, and my parents. My father has a slight mobility issue and will need an ECV, though he can walk short distances. When we visited CR in February, it didn't feel particuarly big, even though it can look that way in pictures. :confused3

I have a couple questions about BLT:

1. How long does it take to walk from BLT to CR? I know it depends on your starting point in BLT, but generally, let's say from the beginning of the walkway to CR?
2. Is there a place to fill refillable mugs in the BLT building?
3. Does the BLT have its own gift shop?
4. I know that the sleeper chair is not the same as a recliner, but how similar is it...does it go complete flat, or is the back of the chair still upright? My dad is often most comfortable sleeping in his recliner at home.

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

1) I am not sure since I never stayed at Bay Lake Tower.

2) You can refill them at the Contempo Cafe which is located on the 4th floor Tower of the Contemporary and it's where you would need to purchase them. The only location at Bay Lake Tower you can refill them at is the Cove Bar, which is located by their pool.

3) No it doesn't because all the stores are located at the Contemporary.

4) Once again since I haven't stayed there I am not able to answer that question.

The walkway is not that long......You could probably find some video of it. We stayed in the room furthest from the walkway, and the walk was quick. No longer than staying in a traditional hotel and walking to the elevators. However, the furthest room from the walkway was closest to the pool since we just had to go doen the staircase and out the door to the pool.

The sofa chair is actually a "pull out" chair. It does not recline at all. It like a pull out couch---but a chair.

Hope this helps.

Have fun.

Thanks, everyone! Some pictures make it look like BLT is super far away from the main CR tower.

I thought there was also a drink station on the bottom floor.... Granted I never used it I just thought I read about it form another DVC member... these questions are good to be asked on the DVC section of the boards :)

the back of the sleeper chair stays upright but the mattress pulls out to a flat bed.

the actual walkway itself take a minute or so...
Our room was just before the second bank of elevators and it took us a few minutes to get from our room to contemporary but I never specifically timed it since we had an elevator ride etc

You might think about requesting a 5th floor room, as that is the floor with the skybridge to CR. The chair bed works like a sofa bed, but it is twin size. The only food options at BLT are room service and limited service near the pool. All shopping and restaurants are in CR. You have to use your room key to access BLT, either through the exterior doors or via the sky bridge.

Thanks...the extra information is really reassuring. Sometimes pictures are so deceiving. You're making my decision pretty clear.
