BLT Points...Do they go fast?

Where are you finding these $11 points? The only ones I see here are pretty specific that they need to be used within the next three months. Just because they're offering BCV or BWV points doesn't mean the terms will actually allow you to book in the 11 month time-frame.

I had (and still had last i checked) an opportunity last week to rent bcv points for this november which are in the 11 month "high demand" booking window for $11 pp. I opted not to do that at this point as I'm still shopping around for other options. I'm really not trying to make this a pissing match...and hope it doesn't appear as such.

Depending on when you want to go in November, you don't want to wait too long to try to book.

Nope..I think you are doing fine. If you are comfortable with other resorts that you can get for mess, that is great! I do agree with others...November will begin to book up so I would not wait to long. Good luck!

I would snap theses points and the reservation up quickly as that is quite a rare find in today's market and I can't imagine they will be around for long.

I think the trend is that rental rates will keep going up. Annual dues raise every year, rack rates also rises. The savings you can get for rental vs cash rates are huge, so rental rates can go up by a lot and still make a lot of sense for people looking for rent in a deluxe resort.

I even can see that rental services like Davids will rise their prices and thus pay more to owners as well.

Frankly, David doesn't have enough points, and is going to have to raise the amount he pays members ($11 a point) to sweeten the pot and get more points to keep his customers happy. That means that to cover his costs and turn a profit, I'd expect David's points to go up by a buck or two in the next year. When you rent points from David at $14, and I can rent my points to David for $11, I'm not going through the bother of doing my own legwork for less than $12 - and probably $13. But you won't buy from me if you can get the points from David for $14 - but you can't for BLT and VGF - he doesn't have enough points with advantage at those resorts. So you are stuck with people who are able to charge more because they can compete with David and make more than $12 or $13. Plus, owners at those two resorts paid a LOT for their points - their points simply have a higher fixed cost than my twelve year old BWV points - which I could rent for dues at this point and not feel "out" money (but why would I when with a couple of emails, and a few clicks on the computer, David will give me $11 a point for them).

Now, you can find points for less than $11 or $14 - but they may not get you a walk into Epcot or a room on the monorail. The seven month window can be a gamble for those resorts. And if you have an owner who is a planner - why would an Epcot resort owner not plan on renting during F&W when their points WILL move fast at a premium. And the monorail resort owners don't even need to worry about timing.

Well, look, newer owners, like BLT, VGF paid more than 2x as much pp for their initial buy in than long-term owners at OKW and BWV. It makes sense to me that those points are a couple dollars or so higher per point, especially if used during the 11 month priority booking window. Plus as other have said, all rental prices for all resorts are up over previous years...and so are prices at the cash resorts. I remember staying a couple at extra nights at Pop Century a few years ago, with an AP Discount, for about $60 per night...good luck getting that price today. The last time I stayed a night at POP is was over $100.

I just want to add that I am looking for *** in the off season (***) and I would be very happy to pay $14 a point for that reservation! There are just not enough people out there to rent from. If I rent the room directly from WDW, I'm paying $630 + tax for it! So, maybe the $14 points really aren't that bad after all. ::yes::

EDIT: Please note that this post was edited to remove specifics that could be interpreted as making a request for a reservation or having an owner to contact you. If you do wish to find an owner, please reply into an existing Points for Rent thread on our R/T Board, or contact a points broker, like David's DVC Rentals or the Timeshare Store. - Thanks, Chuck S

I've gotta admit that after reading all the replys and really listening to what people have said I'm a lot more apt to pay the $14 than I was before.

Prime season for DVC members is mid-Sept to mid-Jan. With F&W in Oct, plus the TOT 10 Miler and Wine & Dine Half Marathon, Veterans Day (and Jersey Week), Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Marathon, that is jammed packed with DVC fun times. Very few members wait to book for seven months out or less for these times.

I'm sure you're exactly right. I haven't researched the the dvc attendance seasons only the park attendace calendars. I'm still learning.

Here is another thing you are missing - my points (BWV) are good year round. If I can sell them for a high demand time (Food and Wine is a good one for that resort) and get a premium, why should I put them on the block for a discount during a lower demand season. As long as they aren't distressed - in which case, you aren't booking BWV anyway. It doesn't matter when YOU travel, I can dispose of my points at high or low season - why should I give you a low season discount? The discount you get for going in low seasons is the number of points it takes to book.

Once you understand all of the factors that go into owners setting a price, it does become more understandable. Granted, there will always be someone who manages to get an awesome deal - because an owner decides they just want a quick rental and doesn't care, or someone gets really lucky with distressed points, or you talk to someone and what they don't mention is that they are renting from a good friend who is giving them a deal. But its not going to be a common occurrence.

Selling reservations at VGF at a premium price has surprised me, due to the high points needed to obtain a room.

But nobody else can book at VGF until seven months out. Small size and it will fill up more quickly. Especially the studios.
