I know we'll want to stay at BLT one of these years, and probably a MK view.

I was wondering if the general consensus is whether people are actually purchasing enough points to stay a week in a MK view room and get the 11 month advantage.

With spring break 1BR rates in the 360pt range, and even off season at 270pts do you think the rooms will still go at the 11 month window? I can see a lot of BLT owners doing some banking and borrowing to cover a week. Thoughts?
Just being curious!

I bought 300 BLT points, so I can stay a week during the time I Want to go.

We thought about this when we added on 160 the second day. We just figured we'd add 25 here and there as the years went on until we got it right. With the advent of the 100 point minimum add-on coming in Jan, we're going to do just what you suggested.

We're going to bank and borrow and enjoy BLT on occasion.

Our bread and butter points will be our AKV points.

I won't be bullied into the 100 point or the "hurry before it's too late" deals. 160's going to have to do.

Personally, I'm hoping the 100 point minimum will be a miserable failure both for BLT owners and so they don't decide to carry it forward and apply the rule to the other resorts.

I bought 160 with the intentions of banking and borrowing. As a family we agreed when we bought in any MK view trips would be in a studio and for 1 bedrooms standard or lake views. That being said we also own at AKV so we can do split stays between the two for extended trips. We also had already planned a one year on one year off type of vactioning so that we only have to get AP's every other year. Between BLT and AKV we will have 720 pts every other year to play with.

ditto.... bought 160 and will bank and stay in a 2br every other year for 5 nights... have 480 other annual points to stay on weekends and elsewhere.:thumbsup2

No, I think with the price per point and the corresponding point charts and the current economy, people are planning to bank & borrow or to try for the Lake View units or studios in lieu of larger units. And I think that is probably why they decided to raise the minimum point purchases. I think the contract sizes were smaller than expected & that they're a bit worried about how people are planning to only get in there for short stays and they figured out that a lot of people were trying to be frugal with their point management.

For us, rather than trying to micro manage a small amount of points there will just simply be no points at BLT with these new minimums. With the flexibility gone, rather than buying only a few, there will just be none in our future.
