BLT or WL?

Hello all! We (myself, my wife, DS 5, DD 4) stayed at WL last year and really enjoyed the resort, especially the boat ride to and from MK. Our dates this year have availability again at WL, but also at BLT for roughly the same price. I am torn between the resort we enjoyed and a new experience, and appreciate any insight to help decide! MK will be our main park, and the resort pool and QS food options are also important.

I greatly prefer the atmosphere at WL over CR/BLT. The pool at CR is in need of a refurb IMHO. I think the pool (and splash pad) at WL is perfect for children that age. Plus, you have two, good CS options at WL. At BLT, you'll have to walk all the way over to CR to access the QS. I would stick with WL.

Well, we like to try different resorts. Plus the monorail resorts are our favourites in all of WDW. We prefer to stay in the CR tower to DVC, but the BLT is really nice in its own right. We don't mind walking across to the CR tower for the QS, but that is us. The pool at BLT is better than the one at CR, but it isn't the best pool on property either. It has been fine for our needs, but many people like the 'fancier' themed pools at other resorts quite a bit more.
Walking to and from the MK is such a joy that it alone makes a stay at CR/BLT worth it for us. However, the theme/atmosphere is not to many people's liking. To us, it is iconic Disney (the monorail runs through it!), to others it is a plain concrete themeless hotel.

For roughly the same price as WL, I would stay at BLT in a heartbeat!

We really enjoy both resorts and I think either would be a fine choice. The BLT pool is kind of bland and is too small IMHO, but otherwise the resort is great. And you’re close to the restaurants at the CR and all of those at the monorail resorts. And walking to the MK is a huge convenience. The WL complex is gorgeous and beautifully themed. We stayed in a BRV unit in April (our first visit there) and were very impressed, so much so that DH wants to return soon. Good luck making your decision!

We just stayed at both in April for a split stay. We enjoyed both resorts very much and walking to the MK from BLT was fantastic. Overall though we preferred WL. The food was better and closer, the pool was much better, and we much preferred the atmosphere of the resort. I don't think you can really go wrong with either, and I love trying out new resorts, you will have a great time no matter which you choose.

In situations like this, I generally lean towards a split stay. Contempo Cafe at The Contemporary is my favorite QS at a resort.
