BLT or BCV or Split Stay?

We're a family of 5 planning to visit the 3rd week of Sept 2013.

We have looked at all of the options and believe that renting points for a 2-bedroom villa will be the best fit for our family - the kids will be 6, 4, & 4.

The problem is we can't decide between BLT or BCV. BLT will obviously provide the advantage of being so close to MK which we think will be the park we visit the most with kids that age. Plus, food choices and the monorail to Epcot will be great. As for BCV, my DH has stayed at BC and LOVED the pool and thinks the kids will too. We stayed at the BW last time we were there (w/o kids) and as adults loved the location being able to walk to Epcot and the Studios.

We're leaning towards BLT because of the convenience to MK (and Epcot), but every other day or so we start to question if BCV would be better.

The price is just about the same so that doesn't come into play.

I am starting to wonder if a split stay would be better... hmmmm.

I have not stayed at either resort, but will be staying at the BC this summer. I agree with your reasons as to why you want to stay at both resorts. I would go with a split stay for your vacation.
My mom and I are staying at both WL and BC because we love both resorts so much, we couldn't make up our mind!
If you really want to stay at both BLT and BCV, go for the split stay so you can enjoy a little of both resorts!

In terms of convince, both resorts are pretty much equal. You take a monorail or boat to two parks and a bus to two others. You can walk to one park at BLT, and two at BC. That being said, it is about a 5-10 minute walk to MK from BLT where the walk to DHS from BC is 15-25 minutes. We always stay at monorail resorts because they are great and we love the monorail!

The pool at BC is a lot of fun, and cannot compare to any other pool at WDW. Now, the rooms at BLT are newer and more spacious. I, personally, prefer the dining at BLT (really the Contemporary) better. We weren't big fans of Chef Mickey's, but loved Contempo Cafe, California Grill (one of my favorite WDW restaurants) and The Wave.

The arcade at the Contemporary is much better, too, I would go with BLT!!

Haven't stayed at either but, me personally I'm not a big fan of a split stay. packing up & switching to me seems to shorten the trip somehow....10 days as opposed to 2 separate 5 day trips would feel longer IMHO.. Good luck in choosing though...Sorry I'm of no help here...

That would make for split stay perfection! Easy access to almost every park at some point in your stay. If you have 7 nights or more, I'd do a split. Enjoy your planning. I'm sure you'll have a great trip either way.

I vote for a split stay. We just came back from a split stay at the BWV and BCV and it was amazing. Next trip we are going to try a split stay between BCV and BLV. It was so easy to do. Bell services transfers your luggage for you.

I would take the split stay. That way you are conveniently located next to 3 parks. Plus it's nice to see 2 parts of the "world." :goodvibes

I would vote for a split stay or BCV unless you plan on spending a lot of time at MK.

The walk or boat to Epcot and DHS is very convenient. You could also take the monorail from the front of Epcot to the TTC and to MK, yes you have to get to the front of Epcot but we don't mind the walk.

Keep in mind with the monorail from Epcot to/from the MK area, you will have to switch monorails at the TTC

That's the exact same split stay we will be doing next summer.

Every summer we do a split stay with BCV & either AKV or BLT. This year it's 7 nights at BCV & 2 nights at AKV. Can't wait!

The point charts are pretty different for both resorts depending on the size of the unit and the view. Std views at BLT go quickly by members.

Not sure when Food & Wine will start - that will impact any Epcot DVC for availability.

Another factor to consider is space. BLT 1 and 2 bedrooms will have an extra full bath and BCV is the older version with 1 bathroom in the 1 bedrooms (and the crazy bathroom doors).

I'm not sure what you mean. It was my understanding that both places will have 2 full baths in their 2-bedroom villas.

The prices are similar if we're willing to take the standard view at BLT. We will be renting the points and will be doing it exactly at 11-months out so I'm hopeful.

BLT 2BR have 3 full baths, BCV 2BR only have 2 full baths, that's what she was referring to.

I've stayed at both & have done split stays before. I would definitely consider a split stay between the two!

Are you aware that BLT is probably the most popular villa since it's the newest, and there aren't many 2BR at BCV, so you may have to be flexible with what you can get. There may not be any available for the dates you want, they tend to book quickly with DVC members (I'm not sure if you mentioned if you were DVC or not?) Also if you go during F&W, BCV tends to sell out. I just wanted to point that out so that you realize it's not guaranteed that they will be available.

Happy planning!

Thanks! I didn't realize that.

We are planning on going around the 3rd week in September (around 9/18/2013 or so) for about a week. I can be very flexible about the exact dates. My plan is to rent points through David's. I'm very hopeful we can get what we want since we'll be able to do it first thing 11-months out.

Oh yes, I see now I didn't read close enough, you are renting points. You should have a better chance getting what you want than if you were doing a cash, ressie by doing it that way.

Enjoy your trip no matter where you end up!
