BLT - New Years Eve Question

I know this is a long way off, but I thought I would ask for opinions based on prior experiences.

In 2012, we are currently scheduled to take a cruise on the Disney Fantasy from 12/22/2012 to 12/29/2012. After our cruise, we would like to book a room at our home resort of BLT for a few nights and celebrate the New Year at WDW.

I know I can book a room for 12/29/2012 starting on 1/29/2012. Will that be difficult to get because of people staying for Christmas and beyond? Or because the point values for rooms at Christmas are so high, will most BLT owners not book during this time of year?

We'd love a standard view as that is what we had on our recent trip, but we have enough points for a lake view if needed. We want a dedicated 2BR, but will take a lock-off. Do you think we'll have any issues getting our room since we won't be there before Christmas?

TIA!

Christmas week is one of the most popular, difficult to book times of year. You will be behind the power curve, because many folks will book the entire week between Christmas and New Years. Those folks will have several days advantage over when they can book versus when you can book. However, I wouldn't say your chances are impossible.

With Christmas and New Years Day both being a Tuesday that year, you may get lucky and find that some people head home over the weekend, rather than waiting for the Tuesday holiday. You may have some luck with a Saturday (DEC 29th) check-in.

We were going to go Jan 2 2012 so we called at out 11 month window. When I called I asked about new years eve and they had standard view and lake views open, and this was inside the 11 month window for new years eve. We were able to move our trip up to include new years eve and new years day as well since rooms were open. I know nothing is definate, but you should be able to get lake view. I was told the most requested and book at BLT are 1- theme park view, 2 - standard view, and 3 - lake view.

Thanks for the replies. I am hoping that we do get those rooms for that week after Christmas.

Good luck with the reservation. If the availability is limited, don't forget to get on the wait list. They are very often successful. :thumbsup2
