BLT - "most expensive to stay points wise.."

Oh!
So you have to get in the car. Drive the car. Find a parking place, which is an unbelieveable hassle. Take the risk of getting lost on the way back, which has happened to us. You can't have drinks with dinner because you have to drive home. But then when you get home you can park at your door.
Certainly convenient.

Poster d-r stated THEIR point of view, and your way doesn't necessarily mean distance to/from bus stops & hopping on off bus is any less time consuming or convenient than what d-r states re travelling by car from OKW and perhaps finding way around property isn't a problem for them at all & drinks with dinner may not be how they roll. We've had waits at MK bus stop over 10-15 min on number of occasions to various resorts; now that wouldn't cause me to totally rule out your proposed travel scenario but I wouldn't anticipate walking over there & always finding a bus waiting and ready to go to another resort. Different strokes; nice that there are plenty of transportation options ( just like resorts ) to suit folks preferences.

5forDiz, you are right, I just can't imagine using a car at WDW and I guess it shows.

Essentially, because of the easy MK gate access it is the only DVC resort with easy access to every hotel on site. This is going to be a benefit worth having, and is going to make dining out more enjoyable, and pool hopping more fun.

Wow!! I never thought of that!!:goodvibes
Thanks, Mississippian! :worship:

We Love OKW & BWV, but never take our cars, we use Disney transportation.
To each their own. :confused3
Besides gas cost extra $$$
We're on vacation....we're there so often we're not in a hurry...And we already pay in our dues for the bus service. :goodvibes
DUH!! We would get lost too!! :rotfl:
As many times as we've been there we never pay attention to where the bus is driving! :rolleyes1

"A man should never neglect his family for business." -W. Disney

This is a quote we all should remember.

Great quote.:)

I was just saying that the resort easiest to get to the *MOST* dining options is okw, because you can drive off property to about a gazillion restaurants disney busses don't go to. FWIW, I think the only place on property that it isn't easier to drive to than to take disney transport is magic kingdom; the only place that parking is hard is downtown disney, and you can figure out a trick or two to help with that pretty easily, there are signs everywhere making it easy to get around, and it is certainly easier to drive from resort to resort than to wait for busses, imho, and easier to get strollers in and I always have a seat, whenever and wherever I would like to go.

Having said that, our points are at wlv, bcv, akl, and blt. Of course being on the monorail makes BLT disney transportation options the easiest. BCV is nice too.

I do get many of your points too Mississippian :thumbsup2 & like I said I wouldn't rule any of them out....just saying that others here have got some good ones as well. Disney transportation in most cases is probably most painless way to go (especially when you tally gas $ needed to criss-cross property all day long :scared1:) typically we'll just car it for late resort dinners or to early entry park depending upon which park.

:goodvibes

Yes, but for those of us who don't rent cars or drive to WDW, Mississipian is correct. You have the most travel options at BLT. It is what, a five minute walk currently from the Contemporary to the buses at MK? I can't imagine BLT being much more than that. Or you can use the walkway, hop on the monorail and transfer to Epcot.

Now, I would say that BCV and BWV have the most dining options within a 10-15 minute walk when you add up the restaurants there, plus swan and dolphin, plus Epcot, plus HS.

I don't see BLT having any more advantage transportation wise than BWV considering you can walk to DHS and take transportation to any resort from there as well. The walk from BWV to DHS isn't much different than the walk from BLT to MK (or at least, from the old North Wing of CR, which is what I'm basing the time and distance on since I've done that walk before). Plus you have the entire Epcot resorts area and two theme parks right at your doorstep. When it comes right down to it, depending on what part you are staying in, you also have easy access from SSR via the Marketplace bus stops. So while there is a transportation advantage to BLT, it's not the only DVC location with this perk.

But having stayed at nearly all of the Disney resorts, including DVC, you can get where you need to be, when you need to be there, without a car, and for the most part without much inconvenience. For those times when it would be inconvenient - you can always take a taxi.

This is just personal perception, but I've always found the walk from the Contemporary to the MK to be quite short. If you care to pull up Google maps you'll see that all you really do is cross the street and your at the bus stations. In fact, the distance from what I believe to be the center of BLT to the center of the parking lot is roughly equal to the distance from the center of the parking lot to the edge of the bus stations. That's a pretty short distance if you ask me.

The walking distance to DHS is a real hike, and certainly not comparable to just walking out to the parking lot. I'm not saying BWV doesn't have a good location, but if I'm dressed up for dinner on a hot night, I'm not sure I want to make that long a walk.

So, just did some measurement on mapmyrun.com.

I took pics if anyone really cares, but I don't feel like uploading them right now.. :D

From the Far Point of BWV (near nothing, southern end) it is .5 miles to the bus area at DHS.

From the same point it is .58 miles to the back entrance of Epcot (obviously measuring things in 1/100ths of a mile by approximating things on a map is not "scientifically accurate"). That is also walking through the building vs. going outside and walking around the building.

From the point where BCV meets BC it is .27 miles to the back entrance of Epcot.

From that same point is it 1.21 miles to the bus area of DHS. I mapped this out by walking around BWV vs walking through the building. (I have done that walk too many times ;) ).

From CR's bus stop to MK's bus area it is .25 miles

From that same point up to the gate (or as well as I can approximate) it is .47 miles.

So, it is probably six on one hand, half a dozen on another. :D
