BLT monorail access not a reason to book

ok so WE are rethinking our BLT stay as it seems the monorail will be closed from Jan to the end of march. So this removes the convenience factor of staying at BLT for all the restaurants and coming and going from MK to different resorts on the monorail loop. Any idea how one would go from BLT to narcoossees and back for a late night dinner? If it is buses than the AKL will suffice the same as BLT in our opinion

You should read the Official news not the rumours. For a late night dinner take the monorail.

I believe the release says it will be closed during the day - 11 am to 7 pm for planned maintenance. During that time there will be additional watercraft and buses. After 7 you should have access to the monorail for traveling between resorts which should cover a late night dinner.

Also, there would never be a direct bus from AKV or any other non-monorail resort to any monorail resort whereas I believe they operate buses between them when the monorail is not operating (although I am not 100% positive about that). If so, there still remains a difference if you plan on dining at other monorail resorts.

aha I did not know they would operate buses between the monorail resorts. Interesting. I just so love the monorail but see it may not be that important. I just love the hopping on the monorail and even riding it around and it being right near us going by at BLT. Yes I know its crazy.

Even if there was no monorail for BLT it's the only hotel with direct transport to almost everywhere by walking five minutes to the MK bus terminal. My wife and I did a adult trip last year and this was our reason for picking BLT. No connecting to other resorts. Just walk to MK and hop on the bus. Some resorts come close to this (SSR BCV and BWV) but BLT is probably best for this.

I was at BLT in Oct when the Monorail was down from 11 to 6 daily. It was a pain for the way we tour when trying to get back to the resort from EPCOT that time of day. Hopefully they learned from their mistakes during that time & will actually have direct buses rather than making you take the EPCOT line to TTC then a bus from TTC to your resort.

They say they have extra buses but as the wait times went to almost an hour for a bus, I seriously doubted they put that much extra into it.

if the mk is high on your list - then BLT is still worth booking.

being able to walk to the MK and back w/o taking - bus, boats or monorail - it is worth it to me.

you can still walk to the MK - and either take the boats to GF or Polyn or you can take the express monorail back to TTC and walk over to the Polyn.

to get to FW and WL you can just take the boat (marina in back of the CR) over.

We rarely use the monorail while staying at BLT. We walk back and forth to MK, walk across the bridge to Contemporary to grab a bite, and we drive to the other parks or use the bus. If we do ride the monorail, we fell like we are going out of our way to do so…. and we love riding the monorail.

LOL. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it said it'll be closed from 11 am to 7 pm. So I don't know how late night your late night dinner is, but if it's after 7, you can take the monorail. Otherwise, like others have said, just walk to MK and take the bus. It's literally a 5 minute walk. Ok, maybe 7. ;)

I thought the monorail (which was fully operational) would be great for our Thanksgiving trip, expecting it to be a busy time of year. The monorail was no faster (to get back to VGF) than taking a bus (as we did obviously on days we went to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, etc), at least during times when Epcot or MK are clearing out. One gripe is that people going to the transportation center would get in line for the track destined for hotels (even though the direct train tends to clear that longer line faster). Disney really needs to monitor this line and have people show their room keys to get on the resort monorail.

How often do they close the monorail for repairs? We are staying at BLT in Nov and we selected the resort in part for the monorail. Thanks!

They don't want to discourage people from going to the resorts for dining and shopping.

think also they got in trouble with other onsite guests - by demanding only monorail resorts have access to this monorail.

this was in the 90's.

I would have just walked to the beach club and taken the MK bus.

Why on earth would they when every guest is entitled to use it. Many people dine at the monorail resorts or go there to shop without staying there. The monorail isn't a perk for those staying at the monorail resorts it is for everyone.
