Just got back from 5 nights in a 1 BR Lake view at BLT. I had requested "outside the C" and a higher floor. It wasn't ready when we arrived (meaning me and DH, and then my daughter and 2 1/2 year old grandson drove and met us from their home in FL) but they assured us it was worth the wait.
Last time we were in a lake view outisde the C it was a marina view. This was room 8204, on the 12th floor, and it was the 2nd room from the end. BUT, the view was a very peaceful side of the lake (woods, very dark at night) and a side view of MK, including the castle and space mountain! For lake view prices I thought it was awesome--as most nights we were hunkering down by that time because of my grandson. Love the bedtime stories on the TV, by the way. We never got up to top of the world.
The room was also very clean, as was the pool. We hadn't had a 1BR since 2012 and I forgot how much I like the jacuzzi (we had one trip with just my son and then just the two of us; hard to justify more than a studio). Since originally my son in law was going I got the 1BR for privacy but his marine training was moved up so he was not with us.
The new refillable mugs got in the day I arrived, but they are also selling the old ones--the new ones sold out at least once. Also, my room still had small plastic bottles of toiletries, no pumps yet.
Transportation: We walked to MK of course and did the monorail to Epcot. We tried the bus on our studios day. What a mess. We were the 6th or 7th stroller, so although we did get a seat (thankfully as DD is 7 months pregnant) everyone on that bus had strollers on the knees. We had just missed the previous bus so we were on first after a wheelchair and we went to the back. There was actually a line instead of a free for all; that is different (and good!) from my last trip. What wasn't different was the family who came up on the other side and promptly cut in a family or two behind us instead of going to the back. Now part of this crowd was because we weren't as early as DH and I normally are....it's easy to forget how toddlers wake up and get moving, or not. I think that's why it was more crowded than I was used to...we were there the exact same week last year and I have no memory of such a stroller crush, but I usually get DH out the door as soon as I can for rope drop. Anyhow, after that my daughter insisted on driving when we went back to the studios that night for the star wars fireworks and the next day when we went to AK and Disney Springs. DH and I never rent a car and I don't know if I would anyhow, but it was nice and much quicker to drive.
The only issue I had with the resort overall, and you may say it's a minor one, is this: there are two ice machines in the food court. One was broken the entire time I was there, so whenever I went to get a refill of my iced tea I always had to wait for someone, morning, noon, or night. Yeah, I know, 1st world problems. But why the heck is 50% of the ice capacity down for 6 days?
I also vote to bring back the real classic cartoons on the classic cartoon channel--not the new weird ones that seem more violent than the old Mickeys I remember.
BTW they told us there was going to be exterior painting and there was; sometimes right outside where our room was, but it never bugged us and it's our dues at work, right?
I would love to own at BLT; I just don't know if it's necessary if I find a small contract since I have never had a problem booking it at 7 months.
