BLT lake view 1BR review

Just got back from 5 nights in a 1 BR Lake view at BLT. I had requested "outside the C" and a higher floor. It wasn't ready when we arrived (meaning me and DH, and then my daughter and 2 1/2 year old grandson drove and met us from their home in FL) but they assured us it was worth the wait.
Last time we were in a lake view outisde the C it was a marina view. This was room 8204, on the 12th floor, and it was the 2nd room from the end. BUT, the view was a very peaceful side of the lake (woods, very dark at night) and a side view of MK, including the castle and space mountain! For lake view prices I thought it was awesome--as most nights we were hunkering down by that time because of my grandson. Love the bedtime stories on the TV, by the way. We never got up to top of the world.
The room was also very clean, as was the pool. We hadn't had a 1BR since 2012 and I forgot how much I like the jacuzzi (we had one trip with just my son and then just the two of us; hard to justify more than a studio). Since originally my son in law was going I got the 1BR for privacy but his marine training was moved up so he was not with us.
The new refillable mugs got in the day I arrived, but they are also selling the old ones--the new ones sold out at least once. Also, my room still had small plastic bottles of toiletries, no pumps yet.
Transportation: We walked to MK of course and did the monorail to Epcot. We tried the bus on our studios day. What a mess. We were the 6th or 7th stroller, so although we did get a seat (thankfully as DD is 7 months pregnant) everyone on that bus had strollers on the knees. We had just missed the previous bus so we were on first after a wheelchair and we went to the back. There was actually a line instead of a free for all; that is different (and good!) from my last trip. What wasn't different was the family who came up on the other side and promptly cut in a family or two behind us instead of going to the back. Now part of this crowd was because we weren't as early as DH and I normally are....it's easy to forget how toddlers wake up and get moving, or not. I think that's why it was more crowded than I was used to...we were there the exact same week last year and I have no memory of such a stroller crush, but I usually get DH out the door as soon as I can for rope drop. Anyhow, after that my daughter insisted on driving when we went back to the studios that night for the star wars fireworks and the next day when we went to AK and Disney Springs. DH and I never rent a car and I don't know if I would anyhow, but it was nice and much quicker to drive.
The only issue I had with the resort overall, and you may say it's a minor one, is this: there are two ice machines in the food court. One was broken the entire time I was there, so whenever I went to get a refill of my iced tea I always had to wait for someone, morning, noon, or night. Yeah, I know, 1st world problems. But why the heck is 50% of the ice capacity down for 6 days?
I also vote to bring back the real classic cartoons on the classic cartoon channel--not the new weird ones that seem more violent than the old Mickeys I remember.
BTW they told us there was going to be exterior painting and there was; sometimes right outside where our room was, but it never bugged us and it's our dues at work, right?
I would love to own at BLT; I just don't know if it's necessary if I find a small contract since I have never had a problem booking it at 7 months.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. My husband and I absolutely love the resort and usually stay in an outside 1 BR, either lake view or theme park view. The views can't be beat.
If you ever revisit, I highly recommend the TOW lounge which is great for a nightcap after the fireworks crowd has departed. Debbie and April are great up there.

We had a one bedroom at BLT on Dec 30 so we could use the TOWL and see the MK fireworks. It was great! I really love the one bedrooms there....they are so much better than the studios!!!! I like the layout and use of space...it really made me enjoy BLT overall much more than i had when were were in studios there

THANK YOU so much for this review your timing is perfect!! My family and I are staying in a LV 1-bedroom at BLT in two weeks and I love that you enjoyed it as much as you did. Are the "outside the C" rooms even-numbered? I've got a TP room request fax ready to go and want to make sure I'm requesting a room on the outside of the C. We're requesting a higher floor as well.

Thank you for the heads up on the bus to HS, we've got one day scheduled there during our stay and we'll be sure to get out to the bus nice and early. We're doing two days at AK so I'm assuming the same logic for the bus there as well.

This may seem like an odd question but I will be staying in a 1br lake view end of April with my husband and two boys. When discussing how we were packing I decided I would make my boys share a suitcase and then just use the dressers at the resort but I started to wonder, is there clothing storage outside of the dresser in the main bedroom? They will be sleeping on the pullout chair/sofa, and I love that there’s a second bathroom (which was why I chose blt- room for all but not excessive) but is there anywhere for clothes in the living area or elsewhere? Thanks!

Under the TV there is a chest of drawers. Plus one or both ottomans are storage. Here is a virtual tour of an odd numbered (inside) 1BR:

I really wanted to show that to my DD; we did it in 2014 when we stayed there for a 3 day weekend when my other DD was in the college program. It was very cool to watch up there. But with timing, and a toddler, we ended up just seeing some fireworks from our room/balcony.

Just a note that the colors in room 8204 were slightly different (if that matters to you). Ottoman and dinette cushions were more beige. couch cushions were blue; sleep chair was a turquoise color. Otherwise this was exactly how the living area of our room looked, except DD and DGS had the couch open the whole time.

We are BIG fans of the outer C lake view! Stayed in a studio in december that overlooked the marina and CR and it was HEAVEN!

The large ottoman contained the blankets and pillows for the sofa bed and chair. The laundry room had shelving for storage. Yes, it was a laundry room, not just the usual bi-fold doors.
