BLT is Doing the Single Digit Dance

Since we're not DVC members, we couldn't go to the lounge. But it didn't matter - we watched Wishes from our balcony, and the music was piped in from the TV (channel 20). It was fabulous, what a great view.

We would love to buy in at BLT now - either we book standard/lake view and see the fireworks from the lounge, or we do what we did tonight and watch the fireworks from our balcony with the music piped in.

Wonderful views!!! What room are you in? It is 1 bedroom? We think the lakeviews will be the best. Hope to stay there soon and even better, add on!!

We have a studio, Room 7x40 I requested a marina view. The room is on the "outer curve". It has a wilder view than rooms on the "inner curve". I can't see any other room in BLT from my balcony, I think it provides more privacy. I love the view from my room!

Yes! we checked in this morning. I bet they setup all the rooms weeks ago and left them like this since then.

Oh did everyone received the free gift Minnie lithograph at check in?? and there is another one with Mickey in the room.

The back says "Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contempopary Resort - "Jubilant" by Justin Jorgensen - Opening Day August 4, 2009 - This limited edition lithograph was created to mark this special moment. Limited Edition of 650"

That is a very nice touch, wish they had done that for other openings.

Is it a

Top of The World Lounge is the rooftop lounge, they check your key to the world card before letting you get on the express elevator to the top floor. They serve cocktails and drinks in the lounge. And there is the viewing area outside the lounge. You can see Mk from there.

They look for 2 things on the Key to the world card: DVC membership, and staying in BLT for the night.

I was reading another DVC'ers trip report, and she had gone up to the Cali Grill observation deck and warned that you could see in BLT rooms. Just a heads up!!

Part I has a nice little video at the end. Also enjoyed seeing the ordinary details, like the key entry system to the pool, the laundry room on the first floor, the children's sink in the TOW bathroom and what the flatbread appetizers look like at TOW. One item he mentioned was that since the bathrooms in the guest rooms have only sliding doors, there is a gap around the doors and sound carries to the outside. Jack feels this privacy issue needs to be addressed by Disney. Another problem he pointed out was that the windows did not have sheers on them. In the past staying at CR, he observed that the sun gets so bright in those rooms that sheers were definitely needed to cut the glare and he expects the same to be true at BLT.

Oh I can't wait to see these things for myself!

Just wanted to add what a friend had told me about their stay which I was SUPER excited to hear.

Basically, BLT is the first truly exclusive DVC. My friend said that, basically to do anything @ BLT you need at LEAST a room key, if not your DVC membership as well. He indiated that if you wanted to access the lobby, walkway or pool, a room key is required. And, you can't even get up to the 16th floor of the lounge without a room key. Yes I know this has been posted all before, but the actual enforcement since opening is very encouraging.

He also stated that if for some reason guests do get into the restricted areas of the resort, the CM's are instructed and encouraged to ask for room keys and/or identificationat any time they feel unregistered guests could be somewhere in the resort they're not suppose to be.

He was extremely impressed at the levels Disney has instituted @ BLT, and he thinks that is going to be a MAJOR selling point for BLT vs. all other DVC's. The exclusivity of a DVC resort is very enticing IMHO. Just wanted to share.

Only five days until BLT opens. If only we had lots of money we'd be there even if we had to stay somewhere else. That way we could buy one of the new limited edition BLT for DVC members pins that go on sale on August 4th at Fantasia at the CR.

oooh thanks for the update on the pins...are they really going to be limited edition though? there is no special date on them.

According to the Disney Pin site, there will only be 300 of these BLT pins available. The site also says that only DVC members can buy the pin and the member must show his or her membership card. I hope DVCers are not pin collectors, and that there will still be a few pins left when we visit in March 2010 (yeah, right).

My DH (wdrl) emailed this to me earlier, so here's the website for Disney Pin Trading that lists this limited addition pin:

I just looked and can't believe it- that auction is for the free promotional one my parents gave me a copy of from their February trip staying @ Wilderness Lodge! If it is getting that high I'm afraid I might be ought of luck trying to get Minnie for my DW; I've now been told that is a limited edition of 650!!! yikes yikes yikes... Well, only time will tell what I can get my hands on as far as BLT art!
