We're staying at WLV on DVC points from my parents contract in about 3 weeks. They won't be along on the trip, but I'm an associate on their contract.

Am I able to us the BLT viewing deck for fireworks?

I believe all DVC members can access TOTWL....but I believe you need the membership card....do you have one in your name since you are an associate member?

The last time we went to TOTW, they asked for both our membership card and ID to verify we matched the name on the card. This isn't always the case. I think it depends on how busy they are and the CM at the desk.

When I was there last week, they just scanned my magic band and looked at their screen. We own and were staying at BWV. I had my card and photo ID with me like the last time, but they said it was not needed.

You are not the member. Associates don't get member cards. So you don't get member perks unless the member is with you.

Don't take your moms card...embarrassing if they check your magic band to the membership card, and then turn you away...

Oct. 9 they checked both blue card and MB. My friend, who was staying with me at BLT, wanted to go on Oct. 8 by herself. They scanned her band but she didn't have the blue card and she was refused until I joined her in the lobby with my DVC card As others have said, it seems it depends on who's working the lobby podium.

I was there in August, they scanned my band, then asked for my member ID. I asked why they needed my ID when my band had all my info. After going back and forth for a minute or so I was let up. If Disney wants to capture all of my info on my band, then thats all they need IMO......

If the information wasn't on my band, I would have shown my ID no problem.

There seems to be one CM in particular who is rather strict in asking for multiple forms of ID. Its a lounge for goodness sake!

I for one have no problem showing my ID or member card. I think you missed the point of showing ID. They don't know that you haven't given your band to someone else to use. You are proving you are who the band says you are. I know the rules upfront, and it sounds like you did too, as all members should. If a CM for some reason follows all of those rules on a certain day, so be it. Show your ID and member card and be done with it.

They have no idea if I gave my band to someone else when its used to charge merchandise, gain entrance to my room, or charge my food either. If it's my band, and I have the pin, and this is Disney's new way of identifying things, than so be it. I went 4 nights in a row, three of the nights no problem, scan band, up we go, the 4th night it was like gaining access to fort knox. Whats the big deal?

I think the piece is that it the rules say that to access member perks (and TOTWL is a perk) that you will be asked for your membership card.

If there are times when they don't, great, but the expectation should be that if asked, you provide it.

IMO, the big deal is that the rules are set and as members, we should respect them.

Actually not true....From the DVC website..... (Note...MagicBands now replace KttW cards.....) and yes, my Magic Band, when scanned with the proper PIN, states that I am a member staying on points.

At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present his or her current Key to the World card displaying a Disney Vacation Club Membership notation in order to gain admission to the lounge and observation deck. If the Member's Key to the World card doesn't display a Membership notation, a Disney Vacation Club Member ID is required in addition to the Key to the World card to verify Membership.

First....a KTTW card is NOT and WAS NOT ever your member ID card. For membership perks...EXPECT to show your card. If you don't have it, don't pitch a fit. It's stated. I personally was NOT asked for my membership card my last couple of times. Just scanned my band. HOWEVER, I did have the card....and one CM thanked me for having it just in case. I guess he doesn't like arguing with guests when it's just him doing his job.

I would say No to the OP. You can try...but since you are not the member with a card, don't be surprised if you get turned away....sorry :confused3
