BLT- How are sales? Future incentives?

Knowing that there are always some type of incentives to be had, we're holding off on adding on right now. We bought DVC for Disney, not for RCI or exchanges. Sure, they're a nice benefit but they are not a value to our family for a # of reasons.

Last night at DTD in suburban Chicago the following incentives were offered...
2 Mary Poppins tix
7 nt. 2BR RCI exchange
anywhere from a 3-7nt. cruise (offered only during "off" seasons)

We were thinking of adding on more BLT pts. However, in this questionable economy there is no reason to do this right now. Honestly if the incentives were good enough, we would have done so. What happened to the developer pts, matching pts, APs, etc.? I clearly remember during our sales pitch when we bought the first time that DVC's partnerships can change at any time and we should never look at things like the exchanges as a given. Now it seems DVC is really pushing this RCI thing. Frankly, I don't like the majority of the properties. One Diser who was at the event last night said they had an interactive survey which revealed that the vast majority of people present use their membership most for Disney. So, where's the Disney incentives!!?? Mary Poppins sales are slow, RCI exchanges are slow, and DCL is having a hard time filling their ships....especially during hurricane season and cold weather months. I understand we can choose to buy or not, and that incentives are just that....incentives. However, given that there's always some type of incentive offered, these are pretty unappealing.

With all that said, I have 2 questions for those who might know......

1) How is sales progressing for BLT? At what rate? Units sold??

2) Historically, how often are incentives changed? Do you think they will offer different incentives for BLT in the future?

I really appreciate any info.thoughts you might have. This is not a anti-DVC thread. We love our DVC! I'm just curious as to why they are moving away from the Disney property incentives.

probably because the other incentives are cheaper.

1) disney won't say - but until they release some more units to DVC - then would say sales are bad.

2) they don't change much - that say - DVC has already changed the incentives for BLT. So don't know if they will change some more.

the cruise incentive would have worked for me - but already brought all the BLT points that I can for a long while. - more of my travel time is in the fall - so that would have worked.

1) So they haven't released more units to DVC lately? How many sales up until this point? Do you know?

Quick calculation say that between 15 and 20% of the units have been declared. So a 3-5 year timeframe for sell out would not be unreasonable.

From what I can tell, BLT units have been declared 3 times:

Oct 15: 27 2-br's
Oct 27: 31 2-br's
Jan 16: 12 2-br's
Total to date: 70 2-br's

They appear to be declaring units from bottom to top, with the last units declared located on the 5th floor.

I added on a few weeks ago at BLT and did not have use for the cruise. I asked for developer points instead and that is what they gave me.

So, if someone is not interested in the cruise, and would rather have matching developer points, I think you have a great chance at getting those instead.

How do you know this? Interesting information.

At the Orange County website (www.occompt.com) you can search the records. Everytime they declare something, the documents are recorded there. Just enter a date range, the document type (I usually look for Condo Related and Condo Drawing), and a Grantee (I use 'Disney Vacation' and check search type of 'wildcard search').

A list of docs will come up, then you just view the ones you want to see. You can also check the unit number on your purchase documents, and find out exactly where that unit number is located.

Someone on another board pointed out how to find that and I located my unit on the plans. Come November I'm going to walk around and find out which room #s I own a few square feet of. I think I'll "claim" the floor under the sofa in the studio! :rotfl: I printed out that page of the 'blueprints' to bring with me on the trip.

Who knows, MAYBE I'll even get luckily and stay in that room someday, or least get a CM to let me take a picture if it's unoccupied or something... :rolleyes1
