Now please note I am not starting this to cause any problems; just a reaction to what I am seeing..

There seems to be quite a bit of hostility towards BLT: Member only walk way, the pool only to be used by those staying at BLT/no hopping etc from those who stay at CR that BLT owners can use the CR pool, restaurants etc... is this a normal situation? I've not noticed the same hostility from those who stay at AKL in regards to Kidani or have I just not noticed as much as I am not an owner there?

Anyways... can't we just all get along? :grouphug: Guess I just don't understand why there is so much 'anger' and if others have noticed it as well? I mean there's never been an allowance for non DCV members to pool hop so why is this so different?

I've been wondering this myself. I can't remember if there was this type of emotion when VWL, BCV or AKV opened ... anyone?

No, because anyone from Jambo will be able to come use the Kidani stuff, and its pool, and vice versa. Same with VWL and BCV.

I think a lot of it stems from the reports that BLT will have a lounge where the MK fireworks may be visible. It's going to be restricted to persons staying there.

I don't get the consternation over the walkway though. What about just walking over and going in the front door? Is there anything in there (other than the abovementioned lounge) worth going in for? Isn't it just guest rooms? There's no restaurant. All the restaurants are in the Contemporary, aren't they?

Haven't seen the pool yet either, so I don't know whether a fuss over that is worth it.

I think a lot of it boils down to this point - BLT has a very desirable view, and some/many are miffed that they won't have access to it. That brings out the haters. ;)

I don't understand how that is any different than no being able to use the SAB pool unless you are staying at BC/YC? Doesn't Contemporary have a viewing area for fireworks that is only open to guests at the hotel? Conceirge service is only open to hotel guests that pay for it?

Besides BLT is going to have 295 units, that is a lot of units and I bet those people will fill the observation. I'm happy it is being restricted. JMHO.

No, they don't - although California Grill is restricted to persons eating there.

I don't see the big deal about everything either. If they didn't restrict the viewing area, it'd be like not restricting the parking lot...all the MK visitors would be there.;) And the skybridge? That'd be like seeing how many teenagers you can pack in a Volkswagen. :rotfl2: Wouldn't want any stampedes. J/K

I know some are angered over it but seriously if you want it, then buy in, not like its restricted ANYONE can purchase there :confused3
We did the tour and we like it but we think we want to go ahead and add on at BWV. BLT has many good points of interest, Monorail MK views but that said thats it for us. BWV in the middle of so much more EPCOT/DHS LOADS of dining on the Boardwalk plus the 2 parks Swan/Dolphin Yaht/BCV sigh need I go on.....Shawnpirate:

Yes, I do wonder about the pool situation. Whats to stop any outsider walking in from the MK, and walking right out to the pool? Will it be like SAB, and they'll give out wristbands? I wonder...

I am remembering back to when this one way pool hoping first came on board at a DVC resort. When SAB was made NOT accessible when it had been accessible on PH, there were quite a few very specific angry threads. And while it doesn't particularly bother me because I understand the need for the restriction, it isn't appropriate for DVC to allow members who stay at a given resort to PH but not allow other members to PH to that resort. They should just not allow PH from those resorts either. I didn't expect PH to last this long as a perk but still expect it'll go away at some point.

I think a lot of the issue is that people do not understand the purpose of the walkway. It allows the guests at BLT to access the monorail from the Villas directly without having to go down through the lobby. Certainly people who wish to “explore” BLT will be free to enter through the lobby; the control (this type they are talking about are only about 75% effective) just keeps the villa floor that the walkway connects to from becoming a wandering area for visitors who do not yet know there way around BLT, with all the associated noise.

I think it is about time Disney does more about security. They have a big problem with people using hotel pools when not staying there. I have read many posts about people coming from MK and use the pool at the Poly and other reports of locals using other pools at OKW and SSR. I would not have a problem with DVC getting rid of pool hopping. If you want to use a certain pool then just stay at that resort. We were at HH in April and a cast member was checking for room keys at the pool. I thanked her for doing it.

It seems like too much work for me to pool hopping IMO. I have three kids which mean I got to lug all sorts of stuff with us.

Nope no hostility from me. I agree with a PP poster if people want BLT, do an add on.

BLT is not a huge draw for me. Maybe when my kids get older an
DH & I want to get away alone (when I won't have guilt for going to WDW without the kids) we may try to stay at BLT, but I want to stay at other resorts before I stay there.

It's silly to me. To me, it would be like me throwing a fit when we stay at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge next week that I can't access the key-access concierge floor when I'm staying in the villas. If I want Disney's concierge service, then I need to reserve and pay for concierge.

I am all in favor of more security for all current and future DVC resorts, and I'm glad they're starting @ BLT! Have you ever tried to even get into the parking lot @ CR without being a paying guest? It's crazy and necessary! We were staying @ Poly but had been at the arcade earlier and DS left his DS (Nintedo..lol) there. We zoomed back in our car to try to retrieve it and it was like pulling teeth to get into the parking lot. I TOTALLY understand the need and appreciate it, although in this instance it cost us valuable time (we did get the DS back believe it or not)

The parking @ CR has always been a headache and I'm hoping they crack down even more with the opening of BLT. When we stayed there, the lot was full to capacity from 10am to MK closing, then mysteriously, the parking lot emptied (yes, non CR guests parking for MK access) it was very annoying. Can you imagine all the "lookie lou's" taking the walkway, visiting the pool etc? It is a large resort to begin with and making restrictions will be even more necessary.

I don't see it as hostility per se, but rather necessary as DVC continues to grow. OT, a post read that there were over 400,000 DVC members now; when we were going to buy in originally there were less than 100,000. So the "buy where you want to stay" mentality will be more and more important as time goes on. We were originally going to buy @ HH due to cost @ MF's, I'm SO glad we didn't! I seriously believe BLT will be the hardest to book @ 7 months and will remain coveted for all my 50 years of ownership (yes, I confess I love BLT :worship::lmao:)

Do you sense the hostility coming from those staying at CR through CRO?? I haven't seen any DVC related threads that seem hostile (although I may have missed them). What is the 'Member Only' walkway? Is that the path going to the MK?

It's the Latest & Greatest dilemma.

Whenever something comes along, all shiny and new, some will be upset. With BLT, the reasons could be many:

- Bought AKV instead of BLT, regretting the choice to not wait
- Primo location (let's face it, it IS the best resort location imaginable)
- Exclusivity (why can you have this when we cannot)
- Attention (everyone visiting WDW will see and know BLT - many will never even see or know some of the other DVC properties)

The list could go on...use your imagination. The hostility is simply their way to cope with their own situation, or lack thereof. Get used to it folks, it will probably increase after our wonderful new home opens in August.

BLT is the new kid on the block. There always seems to be some degree of super-critical analysis of the new resorts. As an owner at SSR, I can remember being very concious of a lot of negativity on the boards directed at it when it first opened.

Personally until BLT opens and we see what really is the case and not the on paper case of what is going to be allowed or not, the discussion is moot anyway.

Disney is very good about making rules and not enforcing them, so I would say everyone needs to chill until BLT is open and we see what "really" is going to be allowed or not.

But I will go on record and say if the entire property is barred from me, not being a BLT owner, I won't be miffed in the least.

What is the 'Member Only' walkway? Is that the path going to the MK?

No - they are discussing the "sky bridge" walkway between the Contemporary and BLT. Apparently that will be open only to BLT guests. Some believe Contemporary guests should be able to use it also. I can't figure out why they'd want to use it when there isn't anything at BLT for them to walk to, except for the lounge and that's said to be off limits if you aren't staying at BLT.
