BLT Groceries?

Staying at BLT for first time in May and need info about what type of groceries are available at the resort. Trying to make a plan using either shipping stuff down, grocery delivery, taxi run to store, or buying at the resort. Most likely a combo of the above. Having a full size kitchen would like to at least take advantage of for breakfast and quick eats for hunger attacks. Plan on doing a combo of ADRs, quick service and eat-ins. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

There's a limited and expensive selection at the Contemporary. Our family has been VERY happy with the orders we've placed with Garden Grocer. Highly recommended, we'll continue ordering the bulk of our supplies from there.

Enjoy your trip!

Fantasia Market (4th floor CR) has a selection of over priced staples. Milk, pop, cereal, etc. Nothing of significant substance nor of good pricing. I think they have some microwavable meals and such as well.

I'd give Garden Grocer I try if you're in a 1BR or 2BR and want to use the kitchen (cook). CR will hold those items for you (including those needing refrigeration) until you room is ready. Just don't order them for delivery 2 days early or anything (obviously). If you're a late arrival, next day delivery may be better, too.

We just got back from AKV in early December and used WeGoShop.com. They were prompt and the cost of delivery was certainly less than the cost of buying in the resort store, taking a taxi, or renting a car.

I agree with the former posters. The Fantasia market has the same basic supplies as the other DVC resorts but it is limited and expensive. I ordered from garden grocer when I was there in November and was very pleased with the service, selection and price.

I shipped a package of stuff down to BCV because I had a bad experience with the Garden Grocer (missing stuff, no refund or response), and I was trying to save money and time. I have to say it ended up costing a lot and was a huge hassle. I should have packed some the stuff in my bag and bought the rest at the market at the hotel.

When the package arrived no one at the hotel could find it, when they finally located it I had to pay $20 to pick it up. The box was huge and I had to carry it back to my room. Bell services would not help me. So it cost $20 to pick up, $18 to ship, and a boat load of my time...totally not worth it for me.

Consider packing some dry goods and picking up the rest at the market. The prices are really not much higher than what you would pay at the Food Lion.

Have a wonderful time!!!

We have used Wegoshopping and they were great. The delivery was prompt and cost was resonable in fact during our stay we requested another delivery and no problem. I would used them again.

There is a grocery list on the DVC website. Just login and on the right side click on Grocery List/Order forms. From there you can click on the resort store. You can see what they carry and the prices. So, you can see if it works for you.

I've used both Garden Grocer and wegoshop. I like using their service as we drink a ton of water when we go so, I like that I can order cases at a time.

We love Garden Grocer! Never had a problem with our orders.

We used Garden Grocer, as other folks have posted. We weren't there when they arrived and Bell Services delivered. Very easy. We cooked B'fast in room to save time and $$ and also had snacks/water/fruit/trail mix etc delivered. We are early risers and the kids were able to eat leisurely while still waking up in am and we were able to get to parks right at opening. Lunches and Dinners were at parks and resorts. Worked well for us.

We stayed BWV took our cruise and then BLT to end a great trip and wegoshop delivered on both ends of our trip they were great! They even did a last min request for more diapers....highly recommend over purchases at the resort!

Wow. When I stayed at BWV in March of 2010, I walked over to Bell Services after I found out that my room was ready. I told the Bell Services people that I had two boxes at the Conference Center and I couldn't carry them myself. One of the Bell Services guys got a cart and went over to the Conference Center with me. My boxes were put on the cart, and then the Bell Services guy went back to the Bell Services area with me to get my luggage. Then we went up to my room.

How far in advance do you place your order? Do you think there would be a problem with a Easter Sunday delivery?

We've used garden grocer several times and they've been fantastic. For a holiday week I'd book in advance as I do notice near holidays they will sell out on how many delivery slots they have.

Thanks will order way in advance

For a five dollar bill they'd probably carry an elephant up to your room, for ten they'd probably clean it and cook it. I've never heard a disney bell man say they wouldn't bring something up.

This will be my first time ordering groceries from Garden Grocer. Our delivery is scheduled for the afternoon but we will probably be at MK by then. Will the groceries be held at Bell Services or will they be delivered to our room? Do you think the refrigeration is adequate that if they weren't put into our refrigerator until 9 PM it would be OK?

Thanks!

I am surprised by this - when we stayed at BLT in November I was able to ship to the resort in advance and have them bring up the box once we checked in. We were charged a handling fee ($10, I think), but it was worth it. What I am not sure about whether it was Bell Services or the IKON (on-site contractor for the Convention Center) that brought it up to the room.

Shipping out was different - I did have to bring the box down to the Business Center in the Contemporary. It wasn't too bad - took like 20 minutes max. Even easier if you have a UPS or FedEx account. You only pay for the local handling through Business Services, then.

I am not so sure that the costs were that different from a taxi or a one-way rental. We used them for our stay at BLT about the same time frame. Once I paid for the delivery charge and a tip, it was a darn close call compared to say, a one way rental. What is hard to quantify is the convenience of it - certainly was more convenient than shopping in person.

I do wish it were more efficient - I did have to wait downstairs in the lobby of the Contemporary and then pay the driver/shopper and ensure bell services got the bags (tried to do all of this while waiting for the room to be ready.) I guess I am looking for it all - low cost, low effort on my part...

Bell services will hold your delivery.

IMHO, I think the refrigeration is adequate. We usually get milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. and have not had a problem.
