BLT from Disney or BWV from resale?

There are resale contracts for BWV available at $80 per point. The cost of a 150 point resale BWV contract including closing costs would be about the same as buying a 115 point BLT contract from Disney. 150 points at BWV would be enough to stay in a 2 BR Boardwalk view Fri, Sat and Sunday night during Adventure season each year. 115 points at BLT is enough to stay in a MK view 2 BR on Saturday and Sunday during Adventure season each year. Dues on 150 BWV points is going to be a lot higher than dues on 115 BLT points. BWV points expire in 2042 and BLT points last until 2060. I guess the choice comes down to whether the convenience to MK and a MK view is better than an extra night at WDW. Please give me your thoughts on the Pros and Cons of each of these options. How much did Disney charge to extend the OKW contracts from 2042 until 2057?

Do you already own DVC? Otherwise, the minimum purchase for BLT is 160 points.

Also, remember to factor in the value of Developer points if you go the BLT route.

When you say the cost is about the same, I assume you mean on a per year value taking into account that BWV expires in 2042. I would chose the one that fits your needs best in this scenario. Take into account where you like to stay, age of kids, and how much use you're likely to get from those extra years of ownership. Of course your cheapest option overall will be SSR since you can get it cheaper than BWV and it expires somewhat later as well.

Purchase where you want to stay most. BWV is very convienient to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Bus to MK or AK.

I agree with the PP. How old will you be in 2057? (no need to say ) DH and I figured in 2042 at 80 we may not mind that our timeshare has expired. When we get closer who knows we may purchase in a newer resort

A resale BWV 150 point contract at $80 per point costs $12,000 plus closing costs. A 115 point BLT contract at $107 would cost $12,305. I already own at BWV. I have two grown children and one grandchild so far. We would only be interested in BCV, BWV or BLT due to the convenience to some park. I had been excited waiting for DVC at Contemporary, but the prices of the resale contracts at BWV are so much lower than I paid when I bought my points at BWV from Disney (and the costs of resale at that time) that using the same amount of money to buy more points at a location that "costs" less points per night makes this a hard decision for us. I hope to be around even when the BLT contract expires, but I would be 103.
I know that BLT is expect to open in the fall of 2009, I have a June use year. Would I get 2009 points to use before June, 2010 or if I went before June, 2010 would I have to borrow 2010 points? The developer points to use at SSR would allow a stay at SSR but I would not be excited about staying there. We live about 5 hours away so more frequent weekend trips make the most sense for us even though we know the weekend point cost is high. The higher points cost less than taking time off work to go during the week. I am self employed so I do not have any paid vacation time. We also own a condo at Panama City Beach so we still spend most of our time in the parks because we can "chill" at the beach.
