BLT experience (caution long post)

I see your point, but still..the buck does stop with the head of any group. Heck..I'll blame Iger for messy DVC rooms..if it has Disney slapped on it then it should fit the standard. No, you can't blame Ronald McDonald for the bad burger and we can't hold DeeVee Cee for the messy room, but I expect that Ray Kroc should have cared if I got a bad burger. I understand that the resorts handle the housekeeping..esp at VGC that is mainly hotel rooms, not DVC, and I also understand that I get into my room last, after hotel guests, and that's OK too..but are there these same reports about messy hotel rooms? We should at least have the same level of cleaning that the hotel rooms get since the cleaning is done by the same mousekeepers. I'd think Ms. Bilby would have the clout to call the head of whoever oversees housekeeping, or resort heads and tell them that she expects DVC rooms to be held to the same cleanliness requirements as standard hotel rooms.
This is all just for the point of discussion..I read alot here and see many complaints about rooms that were clearly skipped over or had poor attention paid to them. Maybe if I hung out in the hotel rooms area I'd see that there are problems there also. I also have to say that I stay at VGC for my DVC experience and have stayed many times at the hotel before DVC opened and have never had anything but a sparkling clean well maintained room, so this isn't coming from any disgruntled views on my part. I just don't think it's asking too much to have clean and well maintained rooms. :)
Of course I don't think Ms. Bilby is 'responsible' for every dirty room or spoon..but it ultimately is her job to have DVC perfrom..and as I've said many times, sure they have OUR money, but we talk alot..and people share their experiences..what did they say in Marketing 101?..a satisfied person tells 3 about their positive experience while an unhappy person tells 15? I still say it would be in in their best interest to keep existing owners happy to tell others about their wonderful DVC ownership than to say the opposite.
I can tell you as an ex manager in a Vegas casino that those negative comment cards went all the way to the top and were taken very seriously..I'd hope that Disney cared enough about us to care a little about our stays.

The number of Members who can have a negative effect on DVC sales is so small and Disney's brand is so strong, I don't see that Disney has a reason to make much of an effort to keep us happy. No matter what or where they build, the resort will sell out.

If I was reading the number of negative posts here on the DIS about the DVC, I would really have to question buying today, yet people don't seem to be bothered by negative reports. There can be a thread 20 posts long advising someone of why they should not buy and their next post is "I'm so excited, we just bought a 400 point contract for BLT from Disney, we really don't like the resort but they gave us a extra years worth of points".

I am sure that Bilby has a lot on her plate, I just don't think that existing member satisfaction is high on the list.

Gotta say...glad to know we're not the only ones who were offered* late checkout, to facilitate a move b/c of an inappropriately given HA-room, at Jambo last December! Man oh man were they having problems, weren't they?
l.

:sad2:We went for a long weekend last December (12/9-12/13) and had we not already purchased into DVC we might never had. Jambo's front desk screwed up our room keys. We arrived at the resort at 11pm took an hour to check in my mother and my family only to have our keys not work. DS5 starts crying because it is now past midnight and everyone is so tired. Took about another 1/2 hour of waiting by our room for someone to bring us the new keys.

The next day we then asked to see if we could have my mom's room changed to be closer to us. They said there were no rooms available. So we left it at that. My mom gets a call that her new room is ready:confused3 She said forget because she was so afraid to be with out a room they kept screwing up:lmao:

But we gave AKL another try this summer and had a wonderful time.

OP sorry you went through all that. It sometimes happens to all of us and hope it doesn't sour your taste on DVC.

OK, so far I only made it through the second sentence before I had to ask a question because I don't understand what had you worried about Kidani since it is the highest rated resort on property? In guest surveys nothing else comes close to Kidani.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on that one. I was worried because I am not a "darker decor" type of person. I like the bright and light decor and I was worried how I would like the it at AKV. So it was nothing to do with the resort itself, just a personal preference on the decor of the rooms. Just me I guess. The decor certainly wouldn't keep me from going back to any resort. But, I was wrong! It really was a beautiful room!

Now I get it. Thanks.

You do bring up a point because indeed there are some people that are turned off to the darker natural color palette used in the room. Personally, I love it.

FWIW, we were there at AKV shortly after your December 2010 stay. I had heard both on the DIS and from the front desk that the weekend of your stay, the computers were completely down (they had been doing upgrades last year) and AKV was having problems assigning rooms and issuing keys. This was apparently not just at AKV, but throughout WDW.

When we arrived on 12/16, they were still having problems. We've stayed at Jambo before and did not have the same problems.
