We are considering a 7-10 stay Dec 14th and are looking at some options... simiply staying at one of the value resorts for the budget minded.... or doing a little splurging and renting DVC points at BLT. I've never done this and wondered is it impossible to get a week during Christmas time? And to boot we would need two rooms.... or enough to sleep 6 adults and one child.

Or.... staying at POFQ.....

I guess another option would be to stay at Bonnet Creek.

Thanks,

d

You could get by with a two bedroom. You do not want two studios. Three adults in one studio is too many because they are so small. But you need to act very quickly and find a member to rent from immediately. Otherwise, you are going to be out of luck. That time of year gets booked up very quickly at 11 months out by members at their home resorts.

I see lots of options for rooms etc.... So a two bedroom that week would take quite a few points.... It's all confusing and is there someplace that explains it all....

What kind of information are you looking for? You can read the sticky threads at the top of the DVC Rent/Trade Board.

Bonnet Creek may be your best bet and less expensive. But you would need to be at the parks when they open to avoid getting shut out with the parks closing because of so many guests.

Lots to devour for information.

BC does look pretty good, we did look into that a few years back and it seemed like a great option. I will have to look into the shuttle and transportation to and from the parks etc... I never thought about capacity issues, but I guess you would get that those weeks. A bit more crowded than July, but less hot :)

We don't mind the crowds, it's the heat that gets us...

BLT has the a great location and less than the Contemporary. How would I calculate the points/cost needed for a 2 bdr that week in December?

Go to the DVC Boards. At the top of each page is a link to DVC Points Charts. They should give you the information you need.

If you want to rent points for BLT, you need to set it up ASAP. Early December has become the single most popular time for DVC. The big thing you need to realize about renting DVC points is there are typically no refunds. Your plans had better be set before booking.

I agree with advice given above. We thought about renting points to stay at WDW back in 2011 for that time period and even months in advance there was no one available with points to sell (using a middle man). So for our visit in December 2014 I began my research early and even putting a deposit down ahead we still had to wait 8 days after the 11 month window opened for someone to be available with points at BLT for our early December time period.

You've already missed home resort priority for the first 26 nights of Dec.

Well, it seems we were a little late in the planning stage :(

We even thought about purchasing time at BLT based on our stay at CR last year. But decided not to.

I think we will look at BC or moderate or value if needed.

We don't have the large amt of funds to pay right now for the DVC rental, and it seems the payment is due with in a few days of the reservation.

Thanks for the info....
