BLT Direct is $275 per point!!! What is going on?

We were fortunate enough to stay in a two bedroom the first it was available after the refurbishment. The room itself was simply amazing and fantastic. But that’s where it ended for us unfortunately. The pool and surrounding areas are extremely boring and sterile. I’d stay there before buying

If you go to WDW in December, January, or February, it's not like you'd do a lot of swimming... Although my 6 year old grand niece from the frigid north would argue the point, since she was in the pool several times despite air temps in the 60's in early February.

Just a note that resale-only owners cannot access Top of the World lounge. But I feel like BLT is one of the great examples to weigh Resale vs. Direct perks. You can either spend a $15,000 premium to buy direct for Top of the World access OR you could instead spend that money on more resale points for a theme park view room. I much prefer the latter.

I don't believe this is correct. The "parties" have been limited to "qualifying members", which is probably what you're referring to. TOTWL has historically been open to all members, regardless of status, after a very brief period when BLT first opened when it was only opened to people staying at BLT. Even on party nights, you can go up and use the terrace.

If only there were a website we could access to find out…

https://disneyvacationclub.disney.g...rs/member-experiences/top-of-the-world-lounge

Eligible Disney Vacation Club Members with access to Membership Extras may enjoy this exclusive space just outside Magic Kingdom park when using their Membership to stay at a Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at Walt Disney World Resort (whether they booked with Vacation Points or cash).

Our last direct contract was $225/pt and I was kicking myself for purchasing that contract. It totally thru off our per night cost. It was a tiny contract, which is why we purchased direct. I was impatient: "Hast Makes Waste". Silver Lining: we received a backpack from DVC with our closing documents and I've traveled with that bag ever since. Probably the most expensively purchased backpack ever but it's a great size for our travel needs. LOL. Seriously, buy resale.

Yes, fair point. We are hybrid members, so didn’t think about that. If I were going resale only, there is no world in which that lounge is worth $15K on top.

This is why I need all the tips for where best to watch fireworks from BLT for non direct members.😆

This happened after the reopening following the shutdown.
Originally as @CraigInPA stated it was only for those staying at BLT.
Resale members were allowed to go up there as well.
After they lifted the restrictions of only BLT guests; as long as your were a member and staying on property you could go up, even if you had a room at the All-Stars.

Or buy a different direct contract and blt resale like I'm doing to access top of the world lounge and have 11 month priority

They were stating that the OP was incorrect and that resale members can access TOTWL, which they cannot according to the Disney site.

Yep, officially it is part of membership extras and is supposed to be for direct/grandfathered members only. However there have been reports when it is not very busy of no cast member checking memberships and anyone present could go to the viewing area with no one stopping them. So very much YMMV

There is a nice viewing platform right at the end of the bridge linking BLT to Contemporary! We have watched it there before versus TOWL.
Just outside the top of the world lounge (Villian's Lair) there is a viewing platform for BLT guests. The viewing platform is divided between direct DVC owners and those staying at BLT (resale, cash, friend of a friend, etc.). When we were last there, the staff didn't seem to manage who was what as it's a fairly larger area. As for Villian's Lair I seem to recall you had to be direct to book there.

Happy to be correct on any of the above as it has changed a time or two.

We’ve been on the periphery for a long time. Will likely buy direct eventually because we want the perks, but had some other things come up that reduced funds to spend (as life always throws at you).

Just got an offer accepted for $126 resale and closing costs split. Couldn’t do the $275.

Hope this passes ROFR and you can start making some great memories with your family:)

With the right room, I think that Poly TPV would win over BLT. At least you would be looking across the lagoon, rather than the parking lot.

Yeah I guess the lagoon would be cool. But I barely noticed the parking lot when watching this amazing show a stones throw away from my room...
