Just wanted to confirm that, at least for now, there is no dedicated counter service planned for either BLT or Kidani Village. Instead, you would have to go to the Contemporary counter service if at BLT or Mara if at Kidani, right?

Just trying to weigh the pros and cons of adding on at one of the two resorts.

Thanks for the help!

for BLT, my guide said the only counter service there will be a poolside snack place, but not a larger counter service place.

Correct. There will not be counter service at BLT or Kidani Village. I doubt that they will ever put in CS since they would most likely have to remove something to make space.

If you're weighing pros and cons, I think one important consideration is that the walk from BLT to the Contemporary would be covered (through the sky bridge) whereas the walk from Kidani to Jambo would not, and given the layouts, the walk to Jambo could be significant.

I would think the walk to CS at BLT would put you about the place you would need go to anyhow for monorail or bus transportation. Kidani to Jambo is an added 1/2 mile walk or bus trek..
I do think, if you could go either way, buy BLT. AKV savannah view is large enough that it should have availability at 7 months. If you want AKV Value or Concierge, and possibly standard you would need the AKV booking advantage. BLT is smaller and may usually need the 11 month advantage..

Thanks everyone for the input -- greatly appreciated!

Will there be a pool side grill at Kidani? I am confused how they are going to feed people in Kidani?? with the exception of the new nice restaurant.

hundreds of units will have their own full kitchens. Aparantly WDW does not like that competition.

I really with I had a better answer. I do not like wasting too much of my vacation time sitting at multiple TS meals a day or cooking my own food, and think CS dining gives me some of the one luxury I cannot buy, time.

For BLT, it will be a short walk to the fast food spot at CR. It's located on the 4th floor so quite close to the pedestrian bridge.

Kidani will have room service right? I'm sure our guide told us it would.

I don't understand why Kidani is having another high end restaurant and not a CS restaurant. Jambo already has two high ends. I would be much more prone to eat at the CS restaurant at Kidani than what they are planning. I like Mara, but that is sure going to be some hike from Kidani, especially if you are on the far end.

Sure many of the rooms have kitchens but not all. We are studio people.. Plus even if we had a kitchen we wouldn't use it to cook meal per se.... That is going to be very dumb if they do not have a counter service/pool grill or something of the nature for quick eats...

I do not like it (no CS) either.

Overall, I think it is more of an image/snobbery thing. You'd stay in a value if you wanted to eat in a food court, but we'll never allow our deluxe DVC accomodations to stoop down to that level. But, I guess Disney is pretty good at making a lot of money, and Disney decided the money is not there.

If you are in a studio, you will need to decide what you will do more. The Kidani pool, or CS (Jambo) and stay in the building that gives you more of what you would do.

I enjoy a lot many CS meals on trips, and have learned to adjust some. I bring in a few more snack I can munch in room (love the private balcony!), and it is not a bad thing to first go to a park, then eat CS or eat CS at the park, then go "home". (I'd rather eat with a castle view in the MK than in a food court)

You're at Disney, if you think the walk between the buildings is too far or an inconvenience, I cannot imagine what you'd think about walking around a park all day. This sounds harsh, but its really not meant to be, it's just funny. Also, I notice the OP is at SSR, talk about a walk between places there, unless you always get certain buildings.

I always think the "you're a Disney, why are you complaining about walking around the resorts" comments to be funny. I'm really not trying to single anyone out..

I keep thinking, well If I got the DDxP and spent all day on my rear, eating, I would not mind an additional walk around the resort:lmao:

My thought is that I do enough walking in the parks that I don't want to walk 1/2 mile between buildings within the resort (which is why I bought at BCV and VWL :thumbsup2). I stayed at AKV in September and my room was at the far end of nowhere. It was actually 1/2 mile from my room to the front door of the hotel :scared1:
