Just back from staying in a 1 bedroom Lake View at BLT. Requested an even number room on the north side so we could see Wishes. Got even number south side and was disappointed until I got to the room. 14th floor room 8436, gorgeous view of Marina and Contemporary pool area and Electric Water Pageant every night. Amazed that we could see a lot of Illuminations! Also fun to see DHS, Epcot, AK, and DTD in the distance. Since it was easy to go to TOTWL for Wishes I will now request this area. Bonus was that it was closer to the bridge to Contemporary. Felt very lucky.
I think there are bugs to be worked out in Bell Services here. It took 1½ hours to get one of our Owner's Lockers then another ½ hour to get the second one. They claimed that they couldn't find them??? However, this inconvenience also turned into a stroke of luck. Because we had to wait for the lockers I took the time to call Delta about getting a last minute ticket for my great nephew, who was not originally scheduled to come on this trip. I had tried at the ticket counter when we landed at MCO and the only option was over $900, pretty steep for a 4 day trip. I balked at the price but relented when we got to BLT. When I called Delta from the room I got a different agent who was able to get a ticket for 42,500 FF miles! I couldn't believe it! Another stroke of incredible luck.
Our room was pristine. We had TWELVE bath towels and face cloths, lots of towel designs, body lotion (maybe that is standard now??) I called to tell the housekeeping supervisor about how perfect the room was and to get the name of the housekeeper so I could give her a tip. When I saw her the next day she told me that she was instructed to give us whatever we wanted. We found clean towels and emptied wastebaskets on 3 days during our 7 day stay. We felt spoiled indeed.
I found out that MDE is NOT a great system if you add someone to your room after you have already checked in. I could not add FP+ or dining reservations for my nephew, even after his name was added to the reservation. After spending 2 hours having MS refer me to the front desk and the front desk refer me to MS, I finally found a hero at BLT who cancelled our reservation and made a new one and that fixed the problem. He guaranteed that we would not lose our room in the process and he was right. I will be watching my points to make sure there are no issues (past experience speaking here).
I just LOVE the extra bathroom setup. When my great nephew and his mom joined my great niece and me, it was so, so great to have the second full bath. I don't know that I would have invited my nephew had we been in a 1 bedroom without that second bath, even though my nephew is only 9 and doesn't spend a lot of time on grooming
. The extra sleeper chair was also a godsend, and it was my bed for the week. While not as comfortable as a bed, it was just fine for a week.
Now the question: Do BLT rooms all have the little plastic travel wine openers (the kind that cost $1.00 or so) instead of regular cork screws or did a previous guest just abscond with the good one and leave the plastic replacement? I called to get a regular one because I was not strong enough to get the cork out with the plastic one and housekeeping seemed to have a hard time locating one. Just wondering if the cheapies are now being substituted. We have always had regular ones at WDW previously.
I admit to still preferring the location and more personal feel of BWV but I truly, truly enjoyed this trip. BLT owners have a real gem to call home.
