I am going to start looking for a 50pt BLT contract. I don’t see many on the ROFR thread. What kind of price should I expect to pay?
I’m hoping for 2020 pts and on.

I would expect like $160 or $170 but could be less.

I don't really notice much for contracts under 100 points at BLT and I have been following it fairly closely. I don't always look at all UY though. If you get lucky to find one I would likely just pay what they are asking unless you don't care about having the points anytime soon.

What UY are you looking for?? There are a couple out there that seem reasonable...

I am looking for October mostly. June and April as alternatives.
I did see a few listed at $170/180 and just saw one pop up for $155.
$155 seemed pretty good. Of course, Dh is not sure we should be adding on right now with all the travel restrictions.

Yes, that 50 point Oct UY at $155 is the best I’ve seen lately. There’s been a June 50 point listed at $165. You might be able to negotiate as it’s been around for a while, but it only has 10 points for 2020. Who knows if these small point contracts will ever come down in price even with a recession?! Good luck! 😅

I've been on the hunt for a 75pt contract for BLT (Dec UY) and noticed that ballpark prices for 50-70pt contracts ranged from $155 to $165 per point. It hasn't dropped at all due to the pandemic. I actually missed a unicorn 75pt Dec UY contract a few months back because I waited to get confirmation from the hubs and it was under contract within a couple of hours. If you want a small BLT contract badly, be prepared to pay and not negotiate since they are so rare!

I would love to snatch up the BLT listed for $155 but I can’t get DH to agree. He would rather wait until we’ve made it through the fall to see what happens with our kids going to school and if I need to cut my hours at work to watch them.
I did warn him that next time the same contract pops up it might be $180 a pt and he said he was more comfortable spending a little more to have our money stay in savings for now.
As much as I would love to add on, the thought of not working full time soon sounds better.

One thing also to look at is if you could sell a contract and buy a contract to come out in a better spot? Might not make sense at all but you can always look at the math.

Where are you looking? The BLT Oct 50p one I see says pending sale at $175pp.

Thanks! The one I saw was on a different site. Interesting coincidence!

I was looking at small contracts too but the downfall is you dont get many days with 50 points

The benefits of small contracts is that you can slowly build your point pool over time without having such a large cost outlay all at once.

I now have 350 points across 7 contracts, acquired over the course of 4 years.

Very true. But with banking and borrowing, you can make it work every couple of years if you only want studios and don’t stay a full week.

Small contracts work better as addons to existing contracts if you want to stay during the more point-expensive times of the year occasionally or as @Wiltony pointed out, to begin to build your DVC membership.

We started out with 25 points...an itty bitty contract that was intended to get us a blue card membership (this was in 2010) and provide us with a weekend trip every couple of years. With multiple purchases since then, I have just over 1,000 points. All paid for with cash. We go every year, stay in bigger villas and tend to rent to friend or gift trips to our grown kids.
