Bloomin' Onion

Has anyone ever made a bloomin' onion at home? I was just wondering what kind of flour mix you dip it in.

Yes we have attempted to make it at home although it didn't come out like the restaurants so we have to try again. I don't think the oil was hot enough so it didn't really cook that great.

We bought a kit they had in the store by the onions it has the mix, the dip and the cutter. It was pretty cheap as well less than 10 dollars. They also have the envelopes with just the mix without the extras.
