Blood work.. Specifically thyroid..

No nausea or anything? I "suppose" I could deal with giving myself injections - if it would help and there would be no nausea.. Ugh!

No nausea and I have terrible stomach problems.

I take iodine, found in kelp, and with that was able to correct my thyroid numbers positively. I also feel warmer. I was surprised, but with our nations avoidance of iodine fortified salt, goiters are becoming more common once again.

I learned how to test and care for my thyroid from these series of articles.

This is great if it works for you. Your case must not have been serious enough to require medication. We live in an area with lots of fresh seafood( loaded with iodine) and use iodized salt and I am still hypothyroid.

Thank you for sharing that site.. I'll check it out a little later on..

The older I get, the more I want to shy away from taking a "pill" for everything.. I have such a hard time with meds to begin with - even over the counter meds - there has to be better ways..

And of course people tend to end up in that merry-go-round of take this med, now take that med to counteract the side effects from the first med, now take another pill to counteract the side effects from the 2nd med - and on and on and on..

In the course of my Amish research, one of the books I ordered (but haven't read yet) includes a lot of info on their home remedies - which they always try before resorting to traditional medications.. Aside from genetic/hereditary issues, they are an extremely healthy society (even given the huge meals that they eat 3 times a day and baked goods loaded with sugar and such), so maybe it wouldn't hurt to just take a look..;)

I'm 52 and medication sensitive too. My doctor prescribes Armour thyroid for me which is formulated from pig's thyroid glands. I have never had 1 problem with these pills.

I have been medicated for thyroid for 12 years now. I used to be a die-hard Armour thyroid girl, too, but I started having problems again since last year when they changed the formula. For some bizzare reason it doesn't work for me anymore and boy, was I miserable! I finally went back and requested to be changed back to levothryoxine + liothyronine. Wow, it is like a miracle...I feel human again. One is T3 replacement and one is T4 replacement.

A lot of people on Armour have been reporting similar issues.

It's kind of ridiculous though, my endocrinologist had his pen out and asked me what script he should write for me  Ummm, isn't that what YOU(doctors, I mean) are trained to figure out?! Luckily, I knew kind of what I needed. Maybe I should have gone to med school?
