Blood blister...pop it???

I have a blood blister on my jaw line....my skin got caught in barette(don't ask..) and now I have a little blood blister.
It's sore. I either have people telling me to leave it alone, it will go away by itself, or people telling me to pop it or it will never go away.

Have you had to treat one? What did you do?

Blood blisters:
Do not open blood blisters. Opening them does not help them heal and increases the possibility of infection. They will peel off and be replaced by new skin in about 2 weeks.

I wouldn't pop it either. If it were on your foot and the pressure of it made it painful to walk then I would lance it but where it is I would just leave it alone. It probably will be gone in a few days if it isn't very big.

I am of the school of thought that blisters are there for a reason--leave it!

I had a blood blister on my finger a few weeks ago (pliers incident ) I left it alone and the blood reabsorbed within a day or two and it was gone within a week or so. So I would just leave it alone. Maybe put cover up on it?

I got a blood blister on my right index finger oh about 8 or 9 years ago. Not really knowing what to do, I lanced it and to this day, albeit very faded now, I have a little brown mark on my finger.

So I advise leaving it alone, especially since it is on your face.

Swish your mouth with salt water. When I do that, it almost immediately goes away. Try it!

ETA: Wait, sorry. I thought you said it was IN your mouth. I guessing swishing won't help you much then.
