Blog with photos- Manta

Thanks for the link. Loved the photos. We are so looking forward to our trip in June.

Wow - Thanks for the link , I'm super excited to ride it :)

My DD21 and her BF25 rode it twice on the first day it opened. The absolutely loved it!! I think they said it was the best coaster they have ridden.

Thanks for the report and photos, safetymom. :goodvibes

We missed the soft opening by a month, but we're really looking forward to trying Manta out next year. :hippie:

GREAT BLOG!

Sounds awsome adn I cant wait to ride. Thanks for making it seem even more exciteing.

The only thing I would say about it is that you say the train/seat design is unique. I would have to disagree. The B&M flyer trains have not drastically changed since they were introduced well over a decade ago if not longer. There are B&M Flying coasters that have trains that operate in this fashion all over the world. I feel like Manta is unique in the Track design adn effetcs as well as teh aquariums etc. but not the train design adn how it operates. It operates as every flyer train does from B&M. NOW there are some Flyer trains not from B&M such as at Carowinds that operate very differently and I would consider those unique but not Mantas. Just want to let you know.

 Thanks again for the great BLOG!

forces unlike any other coaster. People are gonna love it.

This is not true.
For example the forces on Furious Baco at Port Aventura in Spain are MUCH stronger. In fact the RCDB states Manta travels 54 miles per hour. Nowhere near a record speed adn obviously there are many mroe faster coasters. There are other b&M Flyers as well that are just as fast or have more g's. I think Manta is going to be special because of design adn experience not because of its forces. Not to say the G-Forces are not awsome, I am sure they are BUT they are definatly not better than ANY other coaster though. I am sure they dont compare to any of the following.

Top Thrill Dragster
Mayan Mindbender
Furious Baco
or any coaster that travels between 80 adn 134 miles per hour (the fastest in teh world)

I didn't say forces STRONGER than all other coasters. I said unlike any other. And obviously, I haven't ridden EVERY coaster in the world, so I wasn't claiming that there are no comparable forces on other coasters, just that in my experience, the forces on Manta are unlike other coasters. I also wasn't refering particularly to the level of the g-forces, more like the WAY the forces are applied to you in a unique way on this ride. I have to disagree with one point you make, too. I have ridden Furious Baco many times, and the forces on it are no where near as intense as they are on Manta, nowhere near! Again, I would surmise that this is to do with the WAY the forces are applied by Manta's unique design.

Well. facts are facts and opinions are just that.
The FACT is Furious Baco travels TWICE the speed as Manta and delivers MORE g's (this is what your calling forces lol ) This is NOT an Opinion and cannot be disagree'd with unless you want to be wrong. lol

I have ridden many flying b&Ms and the other FACT is they are not unique in design other than track layout and landscape etc. The forces on Superman at SFOG is hardly any, The g forces on other Flyers just a bit better. NOW I do understand that the position that you ride manta (NOT UNIQUE THOUGH) can add excitment but exitment is not the same as actuall physical g forces. YOu may disagree with my opinions, thats fine but you cannot disagree with facts. I feel that Manta IS a unique coaster but NOT the design, NOT the track layout so much either but the fact the water effects adn aquariums play a major part to the experience. I also understand that most people that ONLY go to Orlando every year may hav enot experiecned other rides like this or many coasters taht actually have some REAL FORCE behind them. I think it will be a great ride. I go in a couple weeks!

:confused3

I will be getting my # 100 credit on Hulk! Manta will be 96!

Again, you have deliberately failed to read the words I have written (which is, of course, your prerogative, [edited] ). It may be the case that Furious Baco has higher g forces than Manta, I didn't dispute this. But the forces on Manta are more intense. The feeling on the body is more intense because of where the accelerations are (different to F.B.), and the planes in which those forces are applied. You seem very keen to concentrate on facts, and I can tell you for a fact that the g's on Manta are more intense than on F.B., because I have ridden both coasters, something which you have not. You also say there are flyers with "better g's" than Manta. What are "better" or "worse" g's? This is a concept not known to science, lol. I assume by better, you mean higher g's? But having higher g's doesn't mean a more intense experience, per se, as evidenced by my experiences of the two coasters mentioned earlier.

We rode Manta the first week it opened. It is a great roller coaster - but not the best we have ever ridden. It was neat for us to ride that kind of roller coaster because we have never ridden one like that, but I grew up an hour away from Cedar Point, so I feel like I have ridden some great roller coasters.

I love seeing the turtles from the roller coaster. Turtles are my fav!

The ride queue was really neat with the aquariums and my DH has a new screensaver for his phone with a great pic he got of all of the rays. It looks fake it is such a great pic.

Definitely worth the ride, but not the best I have ever been on.
