Blocked from booking this morning outside 4-month window!

It certainly would, but would it be legal? I thought that the contract stated that home resort members were guaranteed to have at least a one month booking window advantage over non home resort members. When you sell it, aren't you selling the contract?

Although if it is legal, and you go with a "Conspiracy theorist" point of view, maybe they want to destroy the resale market in time. They are always going to want to sell DVC for the foreseeable future, and the question I ponder is, what is after Reflections? Is there something in their sites, or is it then ROFR cheap points and resell?

I think that DVC management have shown that they are willing to push the limits of contract interruptions, ie not allowing resale owners to trade to other resorts. So who knows what they might try! Past behaviour is no guarantee of future behaviour.

I have no idea if destroying resale value would be in their best interest or not. Pros, they could buy up contract really cheap in ROFR, direct buyers would be happy as they would have an easier time booking. Cons, some people would not buy direct because they would be able to sell and recover most of their buyin costs. But then lots of people buy timeshares direct that are worth nothing in a short time, so who knows.

Did this happen to anyone else? I was trying to book at Jambo at 8am and a message came back telling me that I was outside my reservation window because I was trying to book outside of what is a four-month window. This is very concerning to me. Did anyone else get this glitch?

This is my error message:

Please Select Different Dates
This reservation can't be completed because the requested dates are outside of your booking window for this Resort.

Please select a reservation date on or after Nov 4, 2019, or use Vacation Points from another Home Resort contract to book this reservation.

Did you have points available in that date range without borrowing?

As I read the DVC message (after a few times) it is simply saying you cannot make a reservation for a resort you do not own until 7 months out, i.e., you cannot reserve June 2020 until Nov 2019. On first glance, it could be construed as referring to some four month window but then it would not make sense because it is telling the OP on July 4, 2019 that he cannot reserve June 2020 until until on or "after" Nov 4, 2019 -- if it referred to a four month window, it would say he can reserve time for early November or "before."

Thus, there is nothing to indicate DVC is playing around with some new restriction that is soon to be announced. Instead, all the DVC message shows is that it is not written with clarity (and DVC IT has never been accused of being masters of clarity), and that the now long-term problem of the system not recognizing actual ownership reservation rights at AKV continues without correction (and DVC IT has also never been accused of proceeding with haste in remedying a system problem).

This is correct I reported prior in this post the exact same message, worded the same way just different dates, when trying to book a non home resort during 7-11 months, trying emphasize this was a poorly worded message for what is a bug at an individual member level in this case.

Thank you all for your help in parsing this odd message! I still cannot book at half of our resorts, so it's not just AKV and is a pervasive issue that I hope can be fixed soon. I can certainly see how it can also be interpreted as not being able to make the reservation until that date, instead of what it looks like on the first read, which is that I have to wait to make a reservation that is on or after the four-month date.

I will call back on Monday, since the CM I spoke to just kept asking if I was trying to book outside of 210 days...exact words.

Yeah definitely call back. Something is simply coded wrong and that CM had little knowledge. You are trying to book more than 210 days out so clearly they were confused.

Well, no, I was trying to book eleven months out, which I guess would be 330 days out...but the CM was looking at days, not months, so I do wonder how much training she has had!

Sorry meant to say more than 210 days out. Corrected my post but yeah very little training.

This just gets better and better! I received a call today telling me that what I needed to do was to make sure to select both Kidani and Jambo when doing the initial search because then the system would "assign my eligibility" to book at the 11-month window. I politely asked whether including, say, Beach Club in the search would then, logically, assign me that 11-month booking eligibility as well. A new ticket has been sent after that conversation, apparently 🤣
