Why don't more people do this? :confused3 It is the best deal out there, IMHO, especially if you live near a Blockbuster store.

I pay $15.89 (tax included) a month. I get 2 movies out at a time through the mail. When I am done, I take the movies (in the mailer) back to the store and exchange it for 2 more movies. The mailers are scanned immediately and my next movie from my list ships out and is in my mailbox in about 2 days. Plus you get an extra coupon a month for an instore rental.
If we have time, we could potentially watch at least 8 movies a week, which is a $32 value. What a steal:banana:

Last night the lady in front of me had 3 kids who each had a movie, plus she had one. Her bill was $16 plus change. Why wouldn't she sign up for the Total Access....she would save a FORTUNE!

I used to have this but they raised my bill and took away alot of the perks.
For example, the plan I'm offered is $29.99 a month for 2 dvds at a time/unlimited instore exchanges or $16.99 a month for 2 DVDs at a time but only 3 in store exchanges per month. I believe different people are offered different packages.

Now I get my movies from the library for free.

We go to the Redbox and get them for $1.00! I'm surprised anyone goes to Blockbuster at all anymore. The rate you have sounds like an introductory rate, I know it was a lot more when we checked into it. We only watch a few movies a month and even less in the summer.

We still use Blockbuster, but I'm with the pp... it loses its shine when they started it off with such great perks and then scaled them way back. We get 3 at a time in the mail and 5 in store exchanges per month. We used to pay less for the same plan and unlimited in store exchanges per month. I would have stayed with them forever with that plan. But now, if something better comes along, I'll jump ship.

I love my blockbuster access. Whenever I exchange a movie in the store, I am always amazed by the customers infront of me who spend $30.00 on rentals.

My plan is $21.99 for 3 movies at one time plus 5 exhanges in one month. I was disappointed at first when Blockbuster took away the unlimited exchanges but I found out it really didn't affect me because some months I struggle to even find time to do the five exchanges. I think I average 12 movies a month so for around $1.83 a movie, I am very happy with the value.

I don't know...but I have had this for 3 or 4 years now....I signed up shortly after they started. My plan has changed a few times, but always been comparable to this and my price has never changed. Maybe I am lucky with this rate, but it is a great deal!

ETA: I just checked my account and it still says unlimited exchanges. I wonder why mine is different than others????

I had the BEST account with Blockbuster that was "granfathered" in. Originally the plan was $5.99, and then 6 months ago they raised it to about $8.50.

The plan was 1 out at a time, 2 max per month....in-store exchange with each return. PLUS one free dvd or game rental per month!

I enjoyed it for about a year and a half, but after we caught up on the major movies we had missed, we stopped watching them. I would rent movies from 5 years back that I never saw...but sometimes when the movie doesnt have the hype, you dont get excited ab out it. It would sit next to the TV for 3 weeks, and then I'd return it and get an in-store rental.

So i kinda felt like I was throwing money away eventually. I'd pay $8.50 a month but only watch 1 or 2 movies.

I had Blockbuster for a year and a half. Started out at one rate-they changed it twice without mentioning it.
The thing that ended it was realizing the $250 a year for movies would buy a plane ticket to WDW or I could add it to my savings. We get movies from the library for free now or download them online.

I did jump ship. To Netflix and am very happy with the change. I was so annoyed with Blockbuster and the changes they made. My subscription was for 3 movies out at a time and unlimited instore exchanges plus 1 e-coupon a month for a free rental for $17.99 a month. They changed my plan to 3 movies out at a time and 5 instore exchanges limit and no e-coupon. And raised my rate to $24.99 a month. So, not only was I getting less for my monthly subscription, I was paying $7 more a month for the privilege. Then I found out that other people were being "grandfathered" into their old plan and that the changes weren't across the board. When I contacted Blockbuster, I explained that I was willing to accept the rate increase as long as my plan stayed the same. They said "Sorry...can't do that". I cancelled immediately and signed up with Netflix that day. I actually can get just as many movies a week through Netflix(without instore exchange) because their turn around time is super quick. So, for $16.99/month for 3 movies out at a time. I can easily get 6 movies a week if I want.

I have done both Blockbuster and Netflix and wasn't happy with the service with either. The price is fine, but I watch new releases so I always have long waits. I don't want to wait 3 weeks for the new release, I want it the week it came out. So now I do redbox (love it, $1 a night, can't beat that!) or I do Blockbuster in store if I want it for more than one night. I do Blockbuster rewards, so for $10 a year I get a new release movie and a Blockbuster favorites movie for $5 Monday through Wednesday. Plus, every 6 paid rental is free- but I usually don't rent that many to worry about that. I like paying for the service IF I use it. Mostly, I just put them on hold in my library list..Nancy Drew is in it right now for the kids..I'll get it in about 6 months. :rotfl:

I too was a fan of Blockbuster and became disgruntled with them due to the multiple increases in pricing.

I went to Netflix and was happy for a little bit, the unlimited online movies were nice for when I travel, but found that it was difficult to get new releases. They would take months to receive.

So I went back to Blockbuster because I can get the new releases through exchange. The shipping time was the same with each, about two days.

I pay $10 more per month but get many more movies than I could through NetFlix.

HMMM...We've been with Blockbuster since 2005, and they've never cut off out unlimited exchanges, and we are still at 19.99. Plus, I LOVE the no late fees...can' tell you how much that saves us! even the $1.25 restock fee beats 3 weeks of latefees1 (has happened when we went on vacation...OOPS!)
How bad is it that my kids know that Tuesday is Movie store day...and at the age of 5 and 4, they recognize a blockbuster sign when we drive down the road!

I too was with BB when they first started the Total Access plan.. that was the best thing in the world.. unlimited movies 3 at a time.. unlimited rentals in the store when you returned your movies there.. plus coupons to rent an extra movie/video game every month. Then my plan was going to go up and my perks were going down (limiting in store rentals!... ugh!!) so i stopped. About a month ago I started back with them again with just a 'in mail" plan but customer service has been a joke and half of my movies aren't playing, so I'm only continuing through this month and then I'm sticking with RedBox (gotta love them)

I started with them when they first started many years ago. It was great in the beginning and then they started raising the prices which was bad enough, but when they started throttling me, that was when I quit. This was before they even offered the total access. I was so ticked off when I was throttled, I stopped going all together and use Family Video and Red Box.

I have a little trick to guarantee getting a new release. New releases always come out on Tuesday. So, I make sure at least one of my movies arrives at Netflix on a Monday. It takes one day for my movies to reach Netflix. So, I make sure to have one movie in the mail on Saturday. It gets to Netflix by Monday and they turn around and send a movie out the same day and I get it on Tuesday. I just got Juno today. This technique has worked well for me so far. I also make sure the new release I want is at the top of my queue.
i wish we had a red box around us.. :sad2:

My thoughts exactly. I remember years ago when Phar-Mor was still around. You used to be able to get 3 movies for 99 cents. That was for any movie, including new releases. That was the best deal. Especially when I worked in the video department for a couple months. I was always able to get the new releases. And it was such a great deal! Those were the days.

ETA: I just went online to see where the nearest redbox is to me. I found one just down the road in a local supermarket.:woohoo: I know I am limited by the hours the store is open. But this is a great option!! I can't wait to try it out.

We did it last spring/summer and loved it! However, when they changed their choices, we didn't "re-up", and they dropped us from the program. We've talked about investigating the other options out there and joining another program, but we haven't done it yet.

Blockbuster never changed the price OR options on me. I still have 3 mailers at a time, unlimited in-store exchanges. So I gotta ask...when did that happen to everyone? Just curious!

October 2007 for me.

I was one of the original members but then they started taking away perks and raising the price. They did it to me twice. I have a minimal plan right now that is still $16.95 with tax. That is no instore at all, just unlimited in the mail
