If the Block Party Bash is at 5:15 pm and DCA closes at 6:00 pm, can you still grab dinner at a counter service or will they be pushing us out the gate?
Good question. I don't have the answer, but if you have Park Hopper tickets, you could go to DL and get counter service there. Or an even better option: Go to Whitewater Snacks at the GCH! (Thanks for the idea!)

they will be throwing you out the gate jk jk...most of the counter service places will be open even as the park is closing...the only thing you probably wont get is anything from the vendor carts as they shut down pretty quick but yeah you should have no problems as long as you dont lolligag
The parade is pretty short. expecially on the weeknights. We saw it twice because the first time on Tuesday the parade didn't even stop to do the party bit. The 3 floats went by in about 10-15 minutes. On Friday we saw it again and it still only lasted less than a half hour. You will have plenty of time to eat. To the right of Sunshine Plaza (main entrance area) is the Taste Pilots Grill. It is next to Soarin'.
If you go before 6:00 to get food, you should be fine. In January, DH and I tried to go to Taste Pilot's Grill right after closing and they wouldn't let us in (the stores were all still open, just not the restaurants).
I don't think you will have much luck. In june I tried to get food from Burger Invasion (McD's) before the parade started. Lines are loooooong here and the service is really slow. They only had 1 line open. The parade started. They didn't want to let me continue in the line, although I had been waiting in it already in it. Finally they did. I missed most of the Electrical Parade.
Definitely try White Water Snacks - it is through the gate to the GCH - great food - great prices (for Disney, of course). It is part of the hotel, so they can't force you out!
