Does anyone have any advice on the best day of the week / time of day to hit a water park in July?

I know you need to get there at park opening! That's what we'll be doing in June - get there before it opens, grab a chair or two and hit the slides!

We went the Monday before Easter (a week ago actually!) and while it looked very crowded as far as all the chairs being taken - the lines weren't bad at all. My theory is that Monday would be good most times, because people that are just getting on vacation wouldn't hit the water parks first! But that's just my theory!!

The best advice I would give is to figure out where you will be parking your stuff and family for the day. There are lockers located at different spots throughout the water park. Our favorite area is the teen area. There are lockers there = this is so we do not have to walk all the way back to the entrance to get what we need, whether that is a camera or money, or whatever.

Typhoon Lagoon is the same. We like to hang out in the sharks swim area = quiet and has picnic tables. We ask for key to the lockers in this area.

Take a look at the park map to decide where is the best area to hang out for the day. If you find a better spot, you can exchange your locker for one closer to where you are staying.

Have fun.:wave2:

Since July is a very busy month, you're best bet is going to be to go on a weekday and early. On the weekends you're going to get some of the locals. I would honestly try to hit the beginning of the week as well. The biggest reason-- a lot of people start their trips on the weekend and as the previous poster said, the water park usually isn't the first or second thing on their list.

Seating and chairs are usually important to most (I know they are for me) and these can go really quick in the summer. So you'd really need to be there by opening. (preferably 20 minutes early). Also, the same thing applies here as the other parks. You can get so much more done in that first 90 minutes while the crowds are building.

The last time I went to a water park in the summer, I went to Typhoon Lagoon at park opening and we only had about one hour to use the slides before all hell broke loose. I don't remember what day of the week it was but there were several groups of kids from summer camps there. They were swimming under our tubes in the lazy river. My kids want to go to Blizzard Beach because we've never been there and it looks really cool. Do you think it might be better in the late afternoon?

Last year we went in the afternoon in July and the crowds were way down compared to the morning. I believe it was around 4:00. The only problem with the afternoon is the daily thunderstorm. You have to get out of the water until everything is clear if there is lightning. Don't leave though (just find shelter from the lightning) because most everyone will and that leaves even shorter lines after the brief rain is over! The storms usually blow in and out within 30 min. or so.

I think the best advice is go early, both early in the morning and early in the week!! They will close the park when it reaches capacity which can be as early as 1-2 hr after opening. You can also try to get in later in the day, say after 2:00 or 3:00 because alot of folks get burned out (some times literally!) and they leave the water parks. July and August are the very busiest months for the water parks!!

Have fun and keep a good hold onto your suits!!!
