We ve always stuck to Typhoon Lagoon & :lovestruc the lazy river there. Have got a few extra chill days on our upcoming trip & was wondering if Blizzard Beach is worth checking out ?

How would people compare the 2 water park? At Typhoon we tend to stick to the lazy river & wave pool

Thankyou :goodvibes

We love both of Disney's water parks and although TL is our ultimate fave, BB is a close second!

BB has a lazy river too and a wave pool (although nowhere near as intense as TL's!).

If you have never tried BB before then I would strongly advise you give it a go! Also, if you have the bottle, try the Summit Plummit too!

:goodvibes

We are exactly the same, we do lazy river and wave pool.
Same as Simon TL is our fave but BB is worth a visit.
We are not big waterpark fans, just go in for a couple of hours if included in our tickets.

We prefer BB as we have younger children who like the Surf Patrol are at BB. The family raft ride (Team Boat Springs) is great fun.

However, the chairlift at BB is a bit temperamental and stops quite often. Walking up the stairs is hard work.

another vote for both waterparks.

what we love at each park (this is not a comprehensive list, rather the things WE love at the two parks):

Typhoon Lagoon:
--crush and gusher (our absolute favorite slide)
--lazy river
--wave pool (best wave pool we've ever seen)
--tube slide

Blizzard Beach:
--big tube slide (1 covered, two uncovered) - great tube slides!!
--downhill double dipper (another tube slide)
--toboggan run (you lie on your belly on a pad sort of thing and race other people down the toboggan run)
--teamboat springs - a fun family raft slide
--lazy river

as mentioned, if you have teens or little kids in your group, the special areas for them at BB are fun...

both parks have lots of other attractions, but we're not into them..
the attractions i've listed are the ones we love and do multiple times..

The problem with the wave pool at TL is that the floor is very rough. If you get knocked over by a wave you can get nasty scrapes on your skin. The wave pool at BB is more gentle.

Like others have posted, we prefer TL. However, CrushnGusher aside, the slides at Blizzard Beach are by far better than at TL. The kids play area seems to be a lot better too - in case that has any factor in your decision.

Worth a visit to BB - we sometimes go to BB in the morning, do all the rides and head over to AK later in the day. Whereas TL is a full day for us.

me & my dh found that out the other year when sitting right at the edge of the pool. When the wave came over us it dragged us along the floor & we had cuts all up our legs & back. Wont be doing that again :sad2:

Hi guys,

This is a great thread - my fiancé and I are taking our 4th trip together to Orlando (my 14th) and we've never done any of that waterparks (I did both Disney ones bAck in the 90s a kid).

We want to do one this time, our various ticket packages give us the option of either Disney park (some great thoughts on here) but also aquatica.

Anyone care to share any thoughts on aquatica to help us decide!?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

dd ended up in first aid a few times because of this! wherever we go i stick to the lazy river anyway. i love massive thrill rides as long as theres no water/cossy involved so i go mega wuss at water parks.

I prefer BB but DD loves TL .... which means we have to go to TL

I think there is more to do at BB, however that could just be an illusion created by the fact that I can't get my daughter to leave the wave pool at TL :rotfl2:

I agree though, if you have small children or pre-teens, the Teen and Kids areas at BB make it the better park if they want to do more than just play around in the wave pool or on the Lazy River.

I thought TL would be better for kids when I went last time for some reason and thought BB was more for adults and teens so will be doing BB next year!

I remember as a kid BB being the more thrill like one (summit plummet is harsh!!! Cossie up the bum and bruised legs/bum lol) and remembered TL for the lazy river.

But reading this BB win this time :D I didn't even realise there was a kiddie section, what's it like?

We did both Disney waterparks and Aquatica last October. We enjoyed all 3 (we all love waterparks in our family!), but the Disney ones were a bit more special than Aquatica. :lovestruc

The theming is brilliant in the Disney waterparks, so all the slides are built into hills rather than being stand alone metal structures as in Aquatica (just like all the rest of the waterparks we have been to in Europe). This makes a difference to those of us that wobble a bit at extreme heights...I hate that queuing on high metal structures that you get in normal water parks. With the Disney parks you just don't get that as the queues (not that we had long queues at all when we were there) are on steps cut out of the side of the hill iykwim.

One thing that did annoy us about Aquatica was they insist all children under 48 inches wear life jackets at all times while in the park...something we haven't come across at any other water park we've been to :confused3
This upset our children who are a bit short for their age but swim like fishes. To them only babies wear these type of swim jackets so to be made to wear one all day at the age of 7 & 8 was upsetting for them and impeded them when trying to swim in the pool. We certainly won't be returning until DD & DS are over 48 inches and even then we would choose to go to BB or TL first before returning to Aquatica because they are different to the run of the mill waterparks you get around the world.

Luv Suzy

If you haven't been to BB before, then definitely check it out. I don't think you will be disappointed if you go there with a view that it's on a par with TL, but just different.

If it were me though, I would make the trip out to Acquatica - it really is a fantastic water park.

Extremely clean everywhere, have some very innovative rides, beautifully landscaped and if you want a really cool place to relax, look into hiring one of their cabanas for about $70.

Also they have a standard lazy river, and a fast one that you simply bob around in wearing life vests - v cool

Another vote for TF 0- but BB is really okay especially if you like more water rides (and lots of painted white concrete)

DGF and I did both parks last year and will be doing both again this year!

We LOVE the wave pool and lazy river in both parks, but there feels almost as though there is an agenda in the WP in TL; the folks in 'the know' flock to the water and get pretty far out to ride the big waves when they come on but doing this for a while made us both exceptionally tired (we're not the fittest!) but there's nothing like that in BB so it felt a lot more chilled.

I really enjoy roller-coasters and big slides and flumes so I was excited by the diversity of attractions at both parks but I have to say that BB far outdoes FL for 'rides'. I know some people rave about Crush 'n' Gusher (or however you spell it :D) but we didn't enjoy it that much and it seemed over-hyped. On the other hand, the Summit Plummet thing (also pretty hyped up) was awesome, as were all of the other rides we did (and I think we did em all!) at BB.

TL seems to be built around the wave pool and if that's what you want to do then you can't do better, really. But if you want the better rides, check out BB!

Oh, food was good in both and I like the layout and the feeling you get from them (though TL does seem to carry its 'theme' better - white painted stone and concrete really doesn't do 'winter-water-land' much justice :D).

since BB was built after TL, they had the opportunity to improve things there, which is why overall, it's probably the better park...

but TL has a few showstoppers BB doesn't have, making it a can't miss as well...

so my answer is, do both :goodvibes

I prefer the slides at BB but also like TL. They both have Pina Colavas at the bar so I will happily go to both. :thumbsup2
