DS 5, weather permitting, thinks it would be great fun to go to BB. Has anyone had a positive experience with kids this young at BB? Tike's Peak sounds cute. Is it a big enough area that DS 2 would be happy there for 1/2 a day? How is the layout of BB? Is it difficult or easy to keep an eye on your little guys? Lastly, does anyone have any links to pictures of BB? Much thanks! ::MinnieMo

There are 2 kiddy areas, i think Tikes Peak is the one for smaller kids and Ski training camp?? for pre teens.

There is plenty for a 2 year old at Tikes Peak and probably a 5 year old as well.
It is a relatively enclosed section of the park with a large number of sun loungers, parasols etc so that you can relax in the sunshine while still having your kids in view. The pool in Little Tikes is much warmer than the water in the rest of the park and the floor of the main pool is soft rubber as well so they don't hurt themselves if they fall. There is a sand pit, a waterfall, a couple of slides and some water squirter type things.

There should be enough at BB to keep your children occupied, but I honestly think Typhoon Lagoon is more 'preschooler friendly'. It has more shade, Ketchakiddee Creek has more for them to do than Tikes Peak, and there is a slide that lands in the shallow (gentle) end of the wave pool so one parent can enjoy the waves while the other tends the children.

Having said that, BB is a fabulous park. Beware much of Tikes Peak is not shaded and Ski Patrol Training Camp is definitely geared more toward pre-teens.

I personally didn't really care for Tikes Peak. We took DS5 and DS4 and it made me really nervous. I took 1 son and DH took other son to keep an eye on. I would wait at the top of the water slide then have to run down to the bottom when he got down there. Dh did the same thing. I was trying to keep an eye on both even though DH had our other son. Just made me too nervous. The kids did have fun though. At the top of Tikes Peak there is a little play area with really little slides that you can stand right there and keep an eye on them but it didn't keep mine interested for too long, they wanted the longer slides. I guess if both boys would have went down the slides 1 after the other I could have stayed at the top and DH at the bottom, but of course they wanted to do different things.

I agree with the previous poster that the kiddie area at Typhoon Lagoon was better for the preschooler set. I did not like at the Blizzard Beach kiddie area that you could not send the little one down the slide and meet them at the bottom-too far to run and still make it before they got down. The TL area was easier to do this with. My little one enjoyed both but I was more relaxed at Typhoon Lagoon. But to your original question there was plenty at Blizzard Beach to entertain the little ones. The whole family enjoyed the family raft ride much better at BB than at TL.

Are you not able to go down the slide (at Tike's Peak or at Ski Patrol Training area) right after your child so that you can meet them at the bottom?

Thanks!

Definately not in Tikes Peak, but the slides are only small anyway and there are lifeguards at the top and bottom of the slides.

Typhoon Lagoon is much more preschooler friendly. Last year my 5 yr old was bored at the Tikes Peak so we joined her 8yr old sister and cousin at the ski patrol but it's much easier to get separated at Ski Patrol and when we did- I was worried sick- none of the life guards would do anything. They wouldn't call her name over the loud speakers and I was frantic. Typhoon Lagoons area has more for the 5-6 yr olds to do while still keeping the 2,3-4 yr olds within arm reach.

my kids liked Ski Patrol much more then TL. They were 6 but one was the size of a 4 yr old. They said TL's kiddie area was for younger kids and they hated the wave pool. The first few times they went down the slides at Ski Patrol I followed to the foot of the stairs, then tried to get around to the base. They informed me they were not babies and didn't need me to meet them at the bottom! The water isn't very deep and if your child doesn't swim well they can wear vests. I just sat at the side where I could see them walk to the top and then come down the slide and they were fine.
