What tips do you have to share for Blizzard Beach?

Where is a good place to sit & have shade?
Where is a good centrally located place to sit?
Can kids go on the slides themselves?
How big are the lockers? Do they sell out quickly?

Also, how early do you have to get there to get those good spots to sit? :moped:

EARLY!!!!
The best shade spots go fast--many folks stampede into the park just to grab a shady spot. The time we went (our first and only time)we arrived well before opening and decided to let the mob run on ahead while we walked at a leisurely pace. Guess what? Not a shady spot to be had. ALL gone in 15 minutes.

we found out that our shaded spot in the early AM was actually a full blown sunny spot in the PM.
Our grandkids went on the slides by themselves but they were 8 and ten at the time.
We had alot of fun there and anxious to go back and give it another whirl

The lockers were enough to put my backpack in ....our beach shoes, and our shorts and tee shirts we wore over. Hope this helps

Head to the back of the park to find a shady spot. The one's toward the front go first but you can usually find one towards the back.

Don't wear a two piece if you want to go on the big slides. :teeth:

Get there as early as it opens. If you are a resort guest take advantage of EMH. There are nice shady spots back by run off rapids, it is at the back of the park behind summit plummet. My children go on the slides by themselves, they are 12 and 13. Bring sunscreen and apply it often, there is tons of sun at this park. Depending on the time of year and the days you attend the lines here get very long. Enjoy the slides as early as possible. Summer and Saturday are the worst for lines. Also if your feet are not used to walking around barefoot bring some kind of water shoes, our feet seem to get especially beat up at this park, even more than TL. Have a great time, it's a wonderful park. :sunny: :sunny:

When we went (with another family) the kids ranged in age from 9-13. We headed over the the Ski Patrol area and that worked out good. I remember there being shade if we wanted it and sun if we wanted it. It was also close to the lazy river. We let the kids go off on their own, but they would keep checking in with us. Of course, we also went on a lot of the rides as a group.

But, you should get there early! Space fills up fast, especially if you are going during a busy time. Find a map before you go, so you can plan your course of action! :sunny:

We'll be there in a couple weeks, I guess I should plan on some pretty heavy crowds.

Are you allowed to bring food into the water park?
Can you take towels from the hotel to the water parks? Or should we bring beach towels from home?

I think you can "rent" towels there? But we brought our own since we were driving
My tip Wear some kind of water shoe!!! The paths get HOT! My mom actually got burned- funny thing is when we went back the next year there was a sign warning about the hot pavement!(so Disney does respond when they say they are going to!)

OOHH And GET THE DONUTS!!!!!!

What is so special about the donuts? I heard that the funnel cakes are really good, are the donuts better? I dont know if my waist could handle both LOL

:beach: 2 tips from me:

1) Rent a locker...in Jan. someone stole DS's goggles, a water camera, & DS's new Star Wars toy from MGM out of our beach bag that we'd left on a lounge chair. Another family had their whole backpack taken at about the same time.

2) Wear water shoes...that pavement gets almost too HOT to walk on.

Have fun!! I'm jealous!!

You can bring food in.

We always bring some hotel towels to BB & TL.

The donuts are SOOOOO much better than the funnel cakes. And I love funnel cakes!!!

Also yes kids can go on slides by themselves, just a recomendation pick a spot and time when you all should meet up if you are lost/split up. Oh and don't say the lazy river, it goes around the whole park and that would be to confusing.

There's a donut hut right in front of Lottawatta Lodge, which is the main food service building at BB.

Heavens! those are some tasty donuts! I can't wait until my trip in September!

We just returned this week and we wanted to try the donuts. We went to buy them as we were walking out the park and they were sold out for the day! :furious:

Now I'll have to wait till next time to see what all the fuss is about!

Thanks a bunch! If we pick up some for later, are these donuts easy enough to carry onto the bus to your resort or would they be messy?

Would crocs make good water shoes? I don't really want to spend a lot of money on getting water shoes if we can use what we already have.

I, personally, wouldn't use Crocs as water shoes. I bought some cheap ones at Wal-Mart last year for everyone for about $4.00 each. They may even have them on clearance by now. The ones I got had the rubber bottom and the meshy top. They worked great!
