I am going to WDW for 8 days in the middle of January 2010.

I was wondering if blizzard beach willl be in refurbishment during my stay? Also, when an where can I find out what attractions will be closed during my stay?

That info has not been published for this year.

There is no "regular" schedule as to which Water Park will be closed first or second during the winter.

All things being equal, they prefer to leave BB open during the Christmas holidays, as
it is "already decorated" with a holiday theme.

Normally one water park will close at a time, and the first one will close around the end of October. This is necessary as all the pumps have to be torn down and rebuilt because of all the sand that gets in them. Since the October schedule shows both open until the end of the month, my thoughts are as follows.

One park will close on either the last Sunday in October or the first Sunday in November. About nine weeks later, usually the first Sunday in January that park will reopen and the other one will close. On the second or third Sunday in March you will then have both parks open again.

I would expect that Typhoon will always be the first one to close. Blizzard is themed to Christmas, so there would be minimal additional holiday decorations required.

We are planning a trip in January as well. I had planned on adding waterparks, but I am wondering if it will be too cold:confused3? While we are from Ohio, and can take some chilly temps, will it be too cold to swim?

On that note, can we add the water park option during our stay? That way if it is too cold, we can just skip it?

Do you think that Blizzard Beach is closed in december 2009?

Dec. calendar is not published yet but should still list TL as closed because refurbisnebt is usually longer than 4 weeks.

Usually the day one reopens the other closes, so I am thinking maybe TL might be having a longer than 9 week closing again this year, but I could be wrong.
9 weeks would have BB closing the week of Christmas which doesn't seem likely. Though I do remember one year my CM missed Christmas Day with us because most guards had to be there for the reopening of BB on Christmas Day when BB closed first. Any BB/TL CMs allowed to post the official dates yet?

The normal nine weeks for a water park rehab would have TL reopen on January 3 and BB reopen on March 7.

It is good to get the upcharge on the Water Park and more, because if it is too cold, you can use the Disney Quest option. That is what I do when I go in December.
